We had a great stay, just a short drive from New Orleans, but it felt like a different world and a different age. The food was insanely good. The rooms verged on rustic, but were very comfortable. It was a great place for our 3-year-old. He got to run around, meet an alligator (safely) and the staff were kind and...

Foster and crew serve up abundant southern hospitality. We felt we had Chef Mike as a personal chef after preparing our catch in an exceptional blackened redfish dish. So good the four of us cancelled a NOLA reservation and asked for it with new sides the next night. Can't wait to return to another highly enjoyable weekend. Atl Bob

We have stayed at the plantation every year for 5-6 years as we go fishing for redfish every spring. The rooms are comfortable with the basic amenities. Our favorite place to stay is in the big plantation house with a private bathroom for each suite. The food they prepare is amazing every time. The staff works very hard and takes...

This restored historic property is a wonderful place to visit. The all- inclusive package is the thing to do because their food is outstanding. I would return for the peach cake alone. Most guests are heading out for fishing trips each day and lunches are provided for you and your guide. They have a full bar and the guests gather...

I was looking forward to two nights at the Woodland Plantation and its famous Spirit House dining. When we arrived we were told that there was a large birthday party in the Spirit House so we would be served in the main house dining room, the same building as our rooms were in. The resulting problems included no bar service,...

Branch out from the Big Easy and explore a bit. Woodland Plantation is less than an hour's drive and is worth every minute. The property is unique and very nicely restored, offering a bit of history AND clean and comfortable accommodations. The staff was warm and welcoming. Be sure to book at least one dinner. Our meal was five stars....

Just spent 3 days at woodland plantation on a tuna and red fishing trip. Foster, the owner, was very hospitable, the accommodations are certainly the nicest within a short drive of Venice. Mike the chef and the staff put a fabulous dinner on every night. 4 or 5 star eating!! Highly recommend.

Could not have had a better trip - fishing was outstanding, food was phenomenal and the service first class. Took my 2 boys ( ages 10 and 12 ) and they had a blast - brought home 300 trout fillets in 2 days of fishing. Look forward to coming back

My wife and I think of Woodland as our second home. We live in Baton Rouge, two hours north, and try to go at least once a month. The food and accommodations are as good as you will find in Louisiana and for that matter the world . We have our own boat, but using one of the dozen or...
