I spent three nights at Allen Acres for a plant workshop. I had the whole house to myself and could not believe how quiet this area is. No sirens, no dogs barking, no trains, no motorcycles, hardly any traffic at all. The bed was very comfortable and the house was very clean. My hostess was the most accommodating person I...

This quaint little B&B is tucked back off the road on 26 acres of what seems like a nature preserve. My wife and I visited in February though, so we weren't able to fully appreciate it. The hosts, Susan and Charles, were very hospitable, and enthusiastically shared their love for nature and their impressive butterfly photographs. The facility was bright...

This location is way off the tourist path for those visiting Louisiana. Charles and Susan Allen are most gracious hosts. The food is delicious and Susan will cater to your dietary needs. Charles knows more about native Louisiana plants than anyone. The accommodations are perfect for a group getaway with a nicely furnished common area to enjoy games and conversation....

We were pleased with our visit at Charles and Susan's place. They were wonderful hosts, considerate of our privacy and we enjoyed spending time getting to know them as they were both interesting people! My husband enjoyed relaxing inside as the accommodations were clean, comfortable and had a big flat screen television in the common living room area and a...

Traveling from Georgia to Texas and found this hidden gem. We wanted something unique other than a standard hotel. This place is absolutely amazing!!!!! Bed and Breakfast is beautiful, spacious, and very clean. The true amenities are in the property itself. The kids thoroughly enjoyed hiking through the woods with the walking sticks available on the front porch and feeding...

SOOOO many hummingbirds and butterflies. So many different species of plants highlighted. Sculptures and art galore. Great hosts. Very different and out of the ordinary as far as BnBs go. I work at Ft Polk several times a year and couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in the area of this choice. A 15 min drive to Ft Polk but WELL...

We were visiting my husband's cousin and family who are stationed at Ft. Polk and stayed at Allen Acres. Our cousin stayed there as well (while we visited) and knows Susan and Charles (since all our family stay there when they visit). We stayed for 4 nights. Susan and Charles were wonderful, sweet, intelligent, and generous hosts. They live in...

You wake up to the chickens crowing and at breakfast the eggs are really fresh. Susan will try to custom make anything you want and she is a great cook. Dr. Allen is a University Professor of Botany who has written many books on the local plants, so you can ask many questions about plants and he will tell you...

Charles and Susan Allen are lovely people and ensured our stay was memorable and enjoyable. The location was great for Fort Polk and not the usual chain hotel experience. The breakfast was terrific and set us up for the day. Charles took time to show us the chickens and nearby nature trail and imparted some of his extensive knowledge on...

Comfortable accommodations. The Allens are generous & accomplished hosts. Choose your style: a vigorous hike through the woods (small stream paddling opportunities nearby), a leisurely stroll through the Allen's imaginative native gardens, or watch hummingbirds & butterflies from a front porch rocker.
