Love the history of this historic Inn. My mother even went here to school as a child. I love how the original lockers are still in the hallways and how each room is numbered by a year of a graduating class from the school. However as a hotel it is lackluster. The renovations to make this into a hotel were...

This is our seventh year returning to stay at the Inn after driving through the mountain valley in 2008. The restored high school is a wonderful way to preserve a piece of history and beautiful sturdy structure. We spend time walking to and around the adjacent towns and visiting with the people who live and work in the area including...

I was born in the Benham Hospital, next door to the Benham Schoolhouse Inn. When some of my family decided to meet for a reunion of sorts, we decided the Inn would be a great place to stay. It was a fantastic use of the old school. The staff was great, and ver accommodating. The only problem was that the...

This is an absolutely amazing place to stay! A step back into history.. Rooms are beautifully decorate.. very clean...prices extremely reasonable, given the historical value The theater, built in 1923 is next door, worth the visit! Will stay again..if you decide to visit, request room 1960! Youll love it!!

We were traveling close to the area and wanted to see the museum in town. When we realized the Inn was pretty much the only place to stay, we thought we'd give it a try. It was a wonderful experience and brought back great childhood memories. The room was like a typical B&B and we were surprised that they had...

Staying at Benham Schoolhouse Inn has been an awesome experience. The rooms were extremely clean, Melvin and all of staff were very courteous and professional. He put an attraction package together for us and would recommend to anyone. We visited portal 31, (which is a coal mine open to the public) We went to the Benham Coal Museum and will...

My son is obsessed with Minecraft, so he chose a 'Coal Mining Expedition' for our Spring/Summer Trip this year... This is THE place to stay if you want to explore the Portal 31 Mine, and learn about the history of Kentucky's coal industry. We had fun exploring the hallways, and looking into the open lockers... As a 'hotel', the rooms...

This is an interesting property that is a perfect stop for someone interested in eastern Kentucky and the early coal mining era. The facility is well maintained though our room showed some wear and tear but nothing that was too distracting (a few holes in the carpet, a ceiling with a bit of needed repair in one corner). The staff...

This was not a usual cookie cutter inn with anything typical in appearance. It was a great experience in a very friendly community. We had planned on looking around for a short visit, but wound up spending the day with a mine and museum tour. The inn was a perfect fit with all the rich history. While there, make sure...
