We were on the bourbon trail and called at the last minute for a room and luckily they had one available. Arrival was quick and we had the king size bed in our room. Nice amenities in the room. The court yard outside was wonderful to eat breakfast in and very filling. Afterwards Paul took everyone for tour inside the...

When we travel, we are always looking for something unique, and the Jailer Inn is just that. It is the old county jail that is now a bed and breakfast. The owner Paul was there to greet us when we arrived and made us feel right at home. He has some great stories to share about the old jail and...

We stumbled on to this hotel while looking at another B&B nearby. Historic hotel with up to date amenities. You could even be visited by one of the ghost that frequent the grounds. Take advantage of the courtyard. Lovely spots are there to relax in privacy. This is also the breakfast area. Paul also gives you a tour after breakfast....

Outstanding place to stay. Lots of fun and Paul is a perfect host. Rooms are stylish and still unique. Breakfast is great. It was a wonderful stay plus the idea behind the place and the friendliness of the staff was awesome.

Bardstown is a great destination especially for bourbon lovers. We had the pleasure of "doing time" at the Jailers Inn. Great place with a very accommodating host. The Inn is rich with history and supposedly haunted. We slept well in the garden room. Very comfortable and spacious with a private bath. The room has a scavenger hunt that starts in...

My wife and I were Inn-mates at the Jailer's Inn with two more friends in July 2016, staying four nights during our first visit. We enjoyed the visit to Bardstown and the Inn so well, we booked another three day visit for Labor Day weekend 2016. Paul and his staff truly care about each and every guest. Their breakfasts are...

Our stay here was wonderful. The room was very comfortable and ever so quiet. Breakfast was served every day in the courtyard, with coffee available in the hall as early as 7. The tour of the old jail was interesting and fun. The location is excellent as well. Can't say enough good things.

This is a wonderfully kept, really clean and incredibly convenient BnB. The owners have done a great job keeping the original feel of the old jail while providing the personal attention you would want in a BnB. Small things go a long way....coffee outside your room by 7 AM, breakfast in the courtyard, a tour of the old jail. We...

We stayed in the family suite which is not technically in the jail itself but we loved it. The suite was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The large screen tv had plenty of channel options. I was very impressed by the fact that we could not hear anything outside the room. The street is quite busy at times but we could...

We stayed in the Victorian room. Bed was super soft. Made it super comfortable, but I had a super back ach the next day. Room was a little worn, but not a deal breaker. The location is prefect, you can walk to just about everything you could want to do. The owners were great if not a little cheesy, but...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Iron bars on windows, 30 inch thick limestone walls, and a heavy steel door slamming behind you may not sound like the typical tourist accommodation. However, Jailer's Inn is anything but typical. The historic Jailer's Inn, circa 1819, in the center of Bardstown, Kentucky offers a unique and luxurious way to "do time." Jailer's Inn is a place of wonderful, thought provoking contrasts. Each of our seven guest rooms are beautifully decorated with antiques and heirlooms, and offer private bathrooms, some with a double Jacuzzi. All located in the renovated front jail, built in 1819. The back jail, built in 1874, is basically unchanged; you get a chilling, sobering look at former conditions in the old Nelson County jail used in full operation up until 1987. Catch a glimpse of life seldom seen in these two historic jails listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. On spring and summer mornings, as you sip hot coffee and chat with other guests over a full breakfast in the courtyard, it's difficult to imagine all of the previous uses of the courtyard, a place to visit forlorn relatives or even the centralized location of the Nelson County gallows. Come "do time" in jail and unlock an adventure in history. Whether you sleep in the elegant Victorian Room, rest and read in the Library Room or enjoy the peaceful setting of the Garden Room, it will be a "captivating experience." ... more   less
