While the butterfly spectacle was indeed the most memorable part of my trip, having Elena and Joel as hosts for five nights was a close second. They pay great attention to all of their guests and made me (as a solo traveler) feel right at...More

Thank you so much for your very thoughtful and thorough review! Right now Joel's mom's place is still the only restaurant in Macheros, but two different families are breaking ground on new ones. Fingers crossed they are up and running soon to give our guests...More

Thank you for the plug for booking with us directly rather than finding a more expensive group tour that will lodge you far away from the communities most in need of tourism dollars. We revise our website frequently to try to make sure everything about...More

Trip of a lifetime!! Ellen and Joel were friendly and gracious hosts; as well as their extended family. I just can't say enough about the warm hospitality and the magic of the mountains of macheros. And of course the BUTTERFLIES - utterly. captivating.

    Questions & Answers
This trip is on my bucket list! Before I commit myself I have a few questions. 1. Is this a safe place for a solo female traveler? Anyone with personal experience? 2. How easy is it to get from the airport to the B and B?Is there an option to be picked up/ dropped off at the airport?Im not interested in navigating a foreign locale on my own by bus or even rental car. I'm more than willing to pay for this service! 3. How long should I plan to stay in order to fit everything in without stress or getting bored? What is the average stay? 4. What time of year should I plan on arriving? 5. I was excited to hear that hiking was an option over horseback( not a fan of horses). Can this be accomodated even in peak season?Should I plan on off season to be able to request all or most of the above? 6. Understand that I'm not a snob! Just an older woman who was warned about Mexico but still wants to see butterflies and enjoy time with like-minded folks.
