Arctic Lighthouse Hotel is located on Hailuoto, the largest island in the Gulf of Bothnia. Nestled at the foot of a former lighthouse, the truly unique and utterly fascinating hotel once served as a maritime pilot station and offers exceptional and expansive sea views across the gulf.
Thanks to its truly one-of-a-kind natural setting, Hailuoto island has achieved iconic status in Finland. Hailuoto is the third largest Finnish sea island and the only one in the Bay of Bothnia that remains permanently inhabited despite the absence of year-round road access. During the summer season, Hailuoto is connected to the main island by a free twice-hourly ferry service, while in winter it is connected by an ice road. The hotel is a half-hour drive away from the ferry terminal. The distance to Oulu is 62 km and the journey takes approximately one hour.
All rooms are equipped with a widescreen TV, shower room and complimentary Wi-Fi. Some rooms benefit from a lounge area and a balcony with sea views.
The hotel also has a reception area, bar, sauna and activity rooms. A natural heritage exhibition is also on display at the hotel. A guest marina is located immediately adjacent to the hotel, complete with a service building, waste disposal area and sauna facilities. A fully operational pilot boat marina is located next to the guest marina.
Absolutely pleasant idea to travel Hailuoto, the whole trip was an experience! First the road to ferry dock, nice and calm. Ferry to the island was exact and smooth. Road to Luotsihotelli was beautiful, nice view with all those old houses and fields. Hailuoto brewery.. like a small country. Hotel was quite small but good. Receptionist was very friendly and arrange a earlier breakfast due to our early check out. Lovely little cafe nearby and a overwhelming view to the sea. Room was clean, small but worth it. All the shops and museums were closed and open not before noon the next morning. Too late for us. Anyway the experience was warm and comfort.
Beautiful location right next to the lighthouse. Clean and tastefully decorated rooms (some also allowed with pets). Great customer service from first contact to check out. One of the best restaurants I've ever been in: local incredients, good size portions, extremely friendly and professional service, wide range of items in breakfast buffet.
The hotel is a old pilot house in the island of Hailuoto. Next to the hotel is a lighthouse. Nearby the there is very nice beach, which was not crowded. There are three restaurants nearby, which provide among other things local sea food. The view is amazing. Rooms are nice, but nothing special. It is a nice place to visit for a few days.
Nice quality hotel with an excellent location. We booked the most inexpensive rooms. They were basic but all necessary was included. The breakfast was good and served to the table now during the covid pandemic. Usually the breakfast is served at the buffet. Dinner is available on request. There is a nice restaurant in the neighborhood also. Good walking / hiking possibilities. Also accessible routes. We also had the sea view and view to the lighthouse.
Wonderful to spend two nights in the superior room with superb views to the west, overlooking the village port. In winter it is a quiet location with plenty of space for outdoor activities. The staff were friendly, helpful and ensured we had a great stay.
Quite pricy lunch buffet with rather ordinary selection. 18,50€ for meat balls and mashed potatoes. Wine was sold in mini bottles worth 9€ and not even ice available. Friendly staff and super great views ofcourse.
Our family 2 adults and 2 children visited here 2 nights. We got a nice family room with an excellent view to the sea next to the lighthouse. The food and service in the hotel was excellent and the staff regularly asked if everything was ok and responded fast to our needs. The room was quiet and it was really peaceful to stay there. The children's hopes for the food in the a la carte menu were met by adjusting the food for their needs. We definitely want to come here again!
We had a big room with a view. Absolutely great sea view, one of the best seen ever. If you live to see romantic sunsets don't try to save couple of coins but take the big room. Cleaning was below average, old beer cans and sand in room. Breakfast you had to make yourself in this time a year. But absolutely recommended because of the room view.
My family and I stayed at the Arctic Lighthouse Hotel in Hailuoto at the end of July 2017. The location is absolutely perfect - it just cannot get any better. If you look for peace of mind, the bay of Bothnia and Hailuoto is the place to be: sun, sandy beaches everywhere, nice easy hikes in the forest around you (there's some spectacular cloudberry spots if you know your stuff) and local food served by the locals for a bite to eat in a bunch of cozy restaurants cafes all around. Luotsihotelli is nice and relaxed little hotel with shorefront rooms (I guess) from everyroom. Our family of 5 slept great in a family room with a luxury of a patio of our own. The hotel has great restaurant serving local foodstuff as breakfast, lunch and dinner with an awesome terasse giving a view to the sea and authentic fishing port. Our family has only good things to say about the hotel's staff: skillful, helpful and ofcourse ever smiling. Straight up 5/5 stay. You and everyone else should definitely try it. …
I had a change to stay in this unique lighthouse hotel at the end of June. The room I stayed was really nice and cosy with an amazing view to the sea. The staff was very helpful and friendly, especially the guy named Niko The Hailuoto island itself is absolutely gorgeous – it has everything from quiet sandy beaches to amazing forests. Place to find peace and enjoy beautiful nature! Would defintely recommend!
