We got the feeling that the Dedza Pottery Lodge has lost interest in providing accommodation and meals. The place is a bit tired and several of the staff quite surly which is very unusual in Malawi. The WiFi no longer works, the WC's in the restaurant were a bit scruffy and the waitress just dumped the cutlery and food on...

Dedza Pottery Lodge is a hidden gem. We only stayed one night, but had we known how wonderful it was, we would have stayed much longer. One can easily spend a lazy afternoon at the lodge. Arrive in time for lunch (it was the best we had in Malawi). Then spend some time browsing the shop for lovely pottery and...

We enjoy our stop a Dedza Pottery and looking at their fine ceramics. If you want you can order individually designed plates, cups etc and have them mailed home within a month. Very good value. We did not stay at the lodge but enjoyed coffee and cheese cake at the restaurant.

Beautiful location near Dedza Mountain. Dine inside or on the veranda. Everything that was ordered was fresh, attractively presented, and tasted wonderful. We dined there twice and both days were great. Be sure to try the apole pie and ice cream. Amazing! The pottery factory itself is small but has a wide variety of items already made and will take...

I love Dedza Pottery and have been visiting it for the last 13 years. It's grown from a simple tea room and pottery to flourishing Pottery & restaurant, boasting 6 gorgeous rooms (I wish they'd build more) I often stay alone, but also with friends and also groups of volunteers when they come to Malawi to aid my little charity...

I recently stayed two nights at this small and unique lodge associated with the Dedza Pottery Shop, which is a well-established small business in Malawi. Our rooms were quite roomy and clean. There was a heater attached to the wall as Dedza can get quite cool at night. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was restful and relaxing. We...

We had a Sunday lunch here. The food was delicious. Larger parties are accommodated by large tables in the garden or inside. We followed up with shopping the pottery. Very well made and beautiful work. If my suitcase could have accommodated more I would have brought more home with me. They do package them up well for travel. I cannot...

Recently stayed in Dedza Pottery with a group of 16 - in spite of which the service was still excellent and we were well looked after. Quiet and peaceful location but still within a decent distance of the heart of Dedza. Would definitely stay again if I'm ever in Malawi again. Sam and his staff made a brilliant impression, leaving...

The location itself was beautiful and the staff were incredible at helping out and provided us with lovely meals in the morning and the evening. The rooms were reasonably large with ensuite access and hot water and lovely views from the patios. I would definetly recommend this to anyone else for a stay in Malawi.

I stayed at Dedza Pottery, with a group of 16, despite there being a lot of us, plus other guests, the service was always excellent and Sam the manager was in particular very welcoming and always happy to help. The rooms and beds were very comfortable and the showers excellent. The food was great with good sized portions and there...
