It is the only place to stay at Mt Kinabalu. Whether you like it or not, you got no better choice at there, lol~ Overall, it is still nice place to stay after 6km tiring climbing from foothills to here. It is just a rest house, hence I did not expect much from it. The dorm room is for 6...

After a tiring hike, Sutera provided hot shower and a fulfilling dinner. Very comfortable warm beds. It's expensive but, after spending a night to recharge for the next day's summiting, I could not ask for more. Some of my friends just had with the hot shower problems and with the food not filled right away at the buffet table.

We stayed here one night in order to complete our two day climb up Mt Kinabalu. While it is a rest house and you shouldn't expect luxury it could have been better. There was no hot water for showers and the communal bathroom was filthy with hair everywhere. Also the food was pretty poor. In saying that I would do...

The facilities here are so much better than I expected. The little tuck shop is rather expensive but so welcome after the climb, and it has chocolate!!! Beds are comfy and the dinner was warm and hearty. Shame I didn't get to enjoy it as much as I should of thanks to crippling altitude sickness from an hour after we...

Just one warning in order to ensure that you get my rating right: Laban Rata is not a hotel but a mountain hut located on an elevation of 3,272 m above sea level on Mt. Kinabalu. You need to stay here if you want like to climb Mt. Kinabalu which is after the horrible earthquake of June 6, 2015 only...

Nice and cozy place. Great food and super nice beds. Sadly the accommodation isn't heated. Lovely view from the balcony. Great staff. Sadly the accommodation doesn't offer treated water so you will either need to bring up you own water or buy bottle water for 14 MYR per 1.5 liter.

2 not-working (no water) men and 2 ladies toilets for 200 people (that's the number of tourists Laban Rata accommodates every night)- I think that explains it all. Forget about the shower. Food is below average. Rooms veeeery unclean. I understand that it is difficult to maintain high standard in this conditions where anything is carried on porters' back but...

Good place to have some rest and well deserved food. Although they mentioned that we had to book far in advance, we were lucky that we had a room with just the two of us. The mountain itself is beautiful, but challenging. Especially the last part at night, it's cold & wet. The way down went much better. It was...

After 6km tiring journey, thanks god we reach laban rata. For your information, things are very expensive here, it's because they use porter to carry all the way up. Route to laban rata can be access by waking up. All rooms at Laban Rata are clean and the types are dormitory. Anyway you are just going to spend one night...

After 4/5 hours tracking up the mountain, in the rain, Laban Rata is the most glorious sight you will have seen that day. When you're knackered, wet and hungry any hostelry would be great but Laban Rata is much more than a mountain refuge. The food is very nice and you can have a beer to wash it down. Accommodation...
