What a wonderful place to relax. All amenities and the river backs on to the cottage so a perfect haven for relaxing and fishing. Two bedrooms, nice little lounge, kitchen/dining, well appointed bathroom and back deck perfect for bbq and relaxing. Looking forward to a return visit at some stage.

Wish I'd read the reviews first. The short version: This cottage was renovated some time ago but unfortunately has not been maintained. Think of it like a slightly upscale camping experience. If you can get it for $100 / night in summer or $50 / night in winter then maybe consider it but plan to bring some of your own...

This place had no washing machine, no oven, no internet, nor proper fridge & TV set, impossible for wheelchair access. Such a basic place was being described as a high class holiday cottage. We were tricked by the misleading advertisement, spending $220/night.

The cottage was very clean and very quaint. Unfortunately on the main road even though it backs onto a river the cars kept coming till about 10pm at night. Need to take your own dinner unless you get to the local shop by 4pm otherwise the shops were closed and the nearest restaurant was a 20 min drive away! No...

Thank you so much for your review - glad you had a good time. Yes we are in a fairly remote location with a family of platypus, echidnas, kangaroos, lots of trout and very unspoiled by tourism. The TV has been replaced with a big one and I hope you saw your platypus. See you next time round. cheers Rob

Looking for the elusive platypus in the stream just behind the cottage. Couldn't see any in the morning. Saw an angler fishing for trout. The stream is so beautiful. Took some photographs. Shops were closed on public holidays.

Very old cottage which has been upgraded with good bathroom, adequate kitchen, main bedroom and lounge with wood fire. Second bedroom (single bed) also "doubles" as TV viewing area. Very comfortable bed, and the kitchen allows good viewing of adjoining river. Adjacent cafe is a gem. Westerway is handy to Mt Field National Park. Didn't see any platypus although apparently...

First of all let me say we really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It has a lovely log fire, electric blankets and extra heaters for the bedroom and bathroom so we were warm and cosy. The outlook on to that beautiful river is magic and we spent many hours just soaking up the serenity. We were even lucky enough...

This is a delightful cottage that shows how life used to be but does it very well. The furniture is mostly period but fit beautifully into a traditional Aussie cottage. Once again I have to comment on how wonderful it is to have a wood burning stove on a cold night. The back deck looks out onto the river Tyeena,...

Wow! What a winter wonderland. We travelled to Tasmania from QLD to elope, and chose Platypus Playground Riverside Cottage as the site for our nuptials. We were looking for a location and due to the winter season we were looking for something quaint which had a wow factor. We were not disappointed. We made the right choice, a quaint cottage,...

Thank you for such a lovely rap! Well that was a first for our little cottage on the river. It was a pleasure having such great guests who appreciated simply everything we had to offer to make you stay enjoyable. Best wishes from the 4 platypuses in the river ... and me for a wonderful life together. We look forward...
