We stayed in Vanilla cottage room with its terrace and beautiful view on Les Saintes for 6 nights. Our room was well equipped with some tea, coffee, small fridge and safe, hairdryer, and even spray against mosquitoes and extra cover.

Room was perfectly cleaned up every day. Towels for swimming pool, bathroom towels and housecoats are of course provided. An effective air conditioner in the room will make your sleep good. The only negative comment would be about the nearby road: for sensitive people to noise like me, I could notice it every evening. However I admit that this is very subjective and I was noticing it only during a traffic peak in the evening. I had an excellent sleep on the good quality mattress though.

Hotel provides yoga classes and massages, a little infinitive swimming pool, and a common room with a variety of books in an original colonial house.
Cocktails are available from 6pm and I can only recommend their original refreshing Spicy Lemongrass. Dinners are a perfect option for those who want to enjoy a romantic calm evening with a gastronomic delight.

Breakfast has its high standard with a fresh plate of exotic fruits which also includes maracuja or tamarind. You can ask for varieties from cheese to ham, eggs and others. You are well taken care of if you are missing something or you have an additional wish.

Dinners cooked by Médéric are optional BUT they are definitely mandatory to try if you are a foodie. We went for 3 dinners, all delicious and not boring. The table d'hôtes is fixed which triggers an excitement and curiosity about the fresh local products transformed into sophisticated dishes. You can also choose a wine bottle which you can continue with another day.

Caroline and Médéric who runs the hotel are very helpful, but also very nice, yet professional, keeping a standard you expect for the price. I can only recommend this place for your honeymoon. The garden, the view, the service but mainly the atmosphere will make the time stop. And don't we desire such an effect when we travel with our lovers?

Thank you for the great time and memories to be kept!

We spent a glorious 5 nights at Jardin Malanga and enjoyed every minute of our visit. Claire and Laurent are amazing hosts and they and their staff are all about the customer service. From the reception on arrival, to the cheerful welcome each morning at breakfast, assistance with excursions (lots to do in the area) and everything in between. The hotel is perched up on the hill overlooking Trois Rivières so the views from the bungalow balconies are spectacular. The hotel is immaculately clean, comfortable beds, good a/c, delicious breakfasts and a beautiful pool area. One truly unique aspect for a boutique hotel is the fact that Laurent is a professional chef. Don’t miss their “table d’hôte” suppers available 6 nights a week. Fine dining at it’s very best! They were among the best meals we ate during our entire 3 weeks in Guadeloupe. We highly recommend the lovely Jardin Malanga! Merci beaucoup.

Spacious and well maintained property with very nice views.
Well equipped appartment with nice own wooden terrace.
The staff was really nice and friendly.
The breakfast which was included in our booking was fresh, tasty and nicely prepared.

The downsides:
The optional dinner was made out of premium ingredients and tasty. But it also was expensive, even if you consider that they only use local products and even if you consider the generally higher prices at guadeloupe.

On our second day, we found a hughe millipede in my shoe in our room which could have been harmful.
Also, we encountered some cockroaches and other insects inside and outside the appartment.
The staff is doing their best to keep these animals out, so I am not blaming anyone as you are living more or less in the middle of the jungle. Just the guests should be aware of that and make sure being able to accept these circumstances when booking this accommodation.

I strongly recommend to the staff to advise future guest to checking their clothes for animals before dressing, as at least I was not aware and had to learn the hard way.

We arrived here late one night straight from the airport and our hosts were very welcoming and had saved some plates of dinner for our family of five to eat on the veranda which was a lovely touch. We had one room in the colonial house and one bungalow. They both had really comfortable beds, good amenities like a coffee machine, air conditioning, a small fridge, hairdryer etc and flowers through the rooms. Our bungalow also had patio furniture and a hammock. We woke to a rousing dawn chorus of birds and THE MOST AMAZING views over palm trees and gardens down to Trois Rivieres town, the crystal blue sea and Les Saintes islands in the distance. Breakfast was always large baskets of fresh fruit and pastries and many other things to order besides. The infinity pool was stunning and easy to lounge peacefully by, reading a good book or taking in the scenery. Basse Terre is hilly and quiet (like a very lush and tropical Cornwall!) and you will definitely need a car to explore it and get around, with waterfalls, mountains and beaches all accessible within 30-45 mins. There is also a ferry each day over to the neighbouring island. Would recommend Jardin Malanga for anyone with an adventurous spirit who is looking for peace and calm. We loved it.

Location on the hills above Trois Rivieres provides great views and a good jumping off point for local activities. Spacious rooms, beautiful pool and the most amazing cuisine provided by Laurent. Claire provided good advice on what to do and was able to secure us last minute kayaking excursion tickets.

Le Jardin Malanga fails completely in delivering a serene and upscale hotel experience simply because its rooms—as experienced during my stay—lack any sound insulation.

When a couple travels many hours to a hotel promising a luxury experience, they expect a basic standard of privacy, and aural privacy is paramount.

Sadly, our cabin at Jardin Malanga had an adjoining suite, and the two suites had only a louvered door separating them. Within a couple hours of arriving, we were subjected to a loud argument by the family in the adjoining suite that involved the mother yelling at her children and the children back-talking the parents. We heard every word as if the family was in our own suite. Afterward, we discovered that we could even hear whispers and shushing through the walls/door.

How in the world is anyone “getting away from it all” when they have less sound privacy than in a youth hostel?

We actually enjoyed all other aspects of the hotel and grounds, and the employees were very kind and helpful, but going back to our room was a dread because we didn’t know what noise we’d be subjected to or what of our sounds would be broadcast as well. In other words, the terrible sound insulation at an upscale property like this overshadows and detracts from all of the good and pretty parts of Jardin Malanga. It’s like the proprietor is trying to focus on the facade, not the personal experience of, for example, guests not being disturbed while sleeping or not being a disturbance while being intimate.

The owner and management of Jardin Malanga should be ashamed of failing guests in this crucial aspect of the “hospitality business,” and should at least alert guests prior to confirming reservations that sound insulation is non-existent and, therefore, paradise is not private.

Dear Jeff, We thank you to have taken the time to write your feedback after your stay in Jardin Malanga. We are glad that you enjoyed our team service and the hotel facilities. On the other hand, we are quiet surprise for the grade you gave us when we did our best to find solutions for you during your stay. Indeed, the first evening of your stay, you came right after dinner to the reception saying that the room next to you was making too much noise, it was before 9:00pm. When we contacted them, they were actually already to bed, with the lights turn off, and the children were in bed, sleeping. The next morning, we offer you to change the room, but you did not wanted to. So you made two other nights in this room, with no guests in the room next to you the third night... Yours sincerely, Helena, Riccardo & the all team.

We only spent one night at the hotel. With the feeling that we could have stayed a week. Difficult to leave.

It is a confidential, intimate, unique, rejuvenating place... A rare pearl. There are very few 9-room boutique hotels in the world with this standard, this size and this setting.

The gentle and fair welcome from Helena, the manager, who obviously has a long experience in luxury boutique establishments, was much appreciated. The right amount of gentleness, discretion and kindness. Well done.

Everything is fair. No false note.

The view of the Saintes archipelago is a hundred times more beautiful than a simple photo can suggest... The garden is extremely well maintained, lush, with red Alpinia everywhere.

The infinity pool, no comment. It's impossible not to fall in love with the decor.

The colonial house which adjoins the swimming pool is of remarkable beauty, very well maintained, decorated with the West Indian elegance of yesteryear, “Creole house” style. You can take advantage of all its spaces, play chess on the outside corridor.

We had a bathroom with a huge window which gives the impression of showering in the flowery jungle with a view of Terre de Bas. Magic.

Good bedding.
Consider earplugs if you are a light sleeper: the construction of the “cabin” gives the impression of sleeping under the stars: frogs, nocturnal birds and other magnificent insects will play a concerto for you to wish you good night. And it’s very meditative, gentle, relaxing. No mosquitoes, very well insulated.

Wonderful hammock on the deck/terrace of each bungalow.

Riccardo, the chef, offers you a table d’hôte in the evening. It was excellent. Highly recommended.

Thank you for this weekend at the establishment and see you soon!

Le Jardin Malanga is a magical place.  Led by the dynamic duo of Claire and Laurent and supported by the gracious and capable care of Woody, it is one of the best stays we have ever had.  It is hard to imagine a better combination of excellent food, hospitality, beauty of nature and thoughtfully appointed rooms.   We slept unbelievably well with the symphony of nature playing in the background, woke up to start each day with fresh island fruit and French pastries, and then had a different adventure each day (thanks to Claire's excellent direction and advice). A highlight was certainly coming home each afternoon to spend some time relaxing by the pool and then enjoying amazing dinners in the company of interesting folks from around the world.   Le Jardin Malanga has it all, and we feel so lucky to have experienced this special, wonderful little paradise.

Visit Basse-Terre from a charming hotel composed of a superb colonial residence, surrounded by small bungalows offering comfortable, clean and perfectly maintained rooms, magnificently wooded, enjoying an exceptional view of Les Saintes and the island of Terre de Haut. The staff is charming, always at your disposal to give good advice on visits to take. We did not have the opportunity to try the restaurant, however the breakfast is quality, served at the table. Don't miss the mango, guava, etc. juices that accompany your first meal of the day with fresh and tasty products.
A very nice experience and also a magnificent accommodation to explore this part of the island without having to find yourself in traffic jams on the only road linking Basse Terre and Grande Terre!

We had high expectations. It was a rustic setting in the back-country above Trois Rivières, Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe. We had trouble getting through the double doors because they got stuck with one door open from previous client. Caroline the director met us and escorted us to our room. We got a brief overview of the place. The pool is smaller and unheated and so not too inviting. We found room to be mixed. It was nice but there are no amenities. The safe had no instructions and we required help to get it to work. The bathroom tub has low pressure water and the temperature us very difficult to adjust. There was no hair conditioner. Towels were few. They were unchanged in three days of stay because we failed to put them on the floor. The breakfast was ok but unvaried with no yoghurt and bad coffee. The dinner was fine for the most part. The pre-dinner cocktails were not available until 6pm. There is no TV which is part of their philosophy. After 9pm it is pretty much lights out. I unfortunately lost their beach towel in a downpour in the mountains running back to my car. The towel was ordinary, but they imposed a draconian rule of 30 Euros for the lost towel which I found to be totally excessive.

Dear Mister Dranch, First, You had bottles of fresh water for you arrival, then every day you had coffee and tea caps in your room, which is amenities. For the double doors, you are right, we have got some troubles with, we are managing to fix them. As same for the pressure water, the intervention is planned. I'm sad you didn't enjoy the pool but you forgot to say, you enjoyed the place and the view to play clarinette. I went explain to you how works the safe when you needed it, as you said. As you said, the room maid change the towels when they are on the floor or on the bathroom, we have paper explain this in each rooms. This rule is made to take care of our environnement and ecology. Water is very precius, particulary in Guadeloupe. There are air conditionner in every room. There are yoghurt in breakfast in request. Classic breakfast has : a plate of fresh fruit, fruits juice and bread, croissant and chocolat bread. Then, you can have by request with the paper we gave to you each morning : eggs, yogurt, cheese, ham, two kinds of cereals... and more... We have the curfew untill 8Pm at the moment in Guadeloupe. You are right, if you don't return towels at your check out, 30€ per towels will be input in your invoice. I also precised it to you when you had it. We are sad that you not enjoyed your stay with us. Thank you for your two feedback, it is important to have some points to do better. Caroline et Médéric
