Detailed Reviews
We have stayed in this wonderful hotel 9 nights . We have just arrived so all the written experiences are very fresh. Everybody there from the FOM (Spanish lady) via the house keeping staff, cooks till the nicely dressed masais were really very kind and helpful! Our room was very close to the pool , large like 55m2 cleaned everyday by very cheerful young girls and ladies.Every evening we have got anti-mosquito spraying and the mosquitonets around the bed were arranged by them. The restaurant the food and the service were perfect. What we really didn't like was not depending on them.It were the changing low & high tides and the disgusting sea weeds and eel-grass on the beach and in the ocean. Otherwise everything was really wonderful!
My advise : try to learn some words in Swahili as a respect to the people who works there.
Asante sana!

Honnestly the best holiday I ever had.
The staff is so much fun and so welcoming! Its a beautiful resort with stunning gardens and we loved the several "lounges" and chill spots. We had so much fun! The swimming pools are gorgeous. The beach is not Zanzibars best swimming beach, but it was still beautiful and they went through so much effort cleaning the beach every morning early for guests to enjoy.
Some mild hick-ups of poor wifi connection, and ice machine problems where ice was very limited at bars - however the staff really did attempt to make a plan to get some ice for us when we asked. By the end of our stay they all knew us so well that they already grabbed some ice from one of the other bars when they saw us approaching.
The food is somewhat repetative, but loving the live frying/cooking and endless fresh salads daily. And the breyani was amazing

Dear LizTravell3r, Thank you so much for your kind words, it was a pleasure having you as our guest. We agree with you completely about our gardens, the pools and of course our staff. We passed your compliments about the food to our staff in the kitchen, especially the salad department was very happy to hear your positive words. We are working on a more permanent solution for our ice at the bars, thank you for highlighting this to us. A very pleasant and safe trip back today and we do hope we have the pleasure of welcoming you back once again to our resort. With warm regards, General Management

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
Firstly let me say that our stay at Paradise Beach was fine. The vast majority of staff were absolutely wonderful, the rooms were clean, and there was a wide variety of food on offer.
Where the resort loses points is in its description. You cannot swim in the sea in front of the hotel and although Paradise Beach may have 60 rooms, it partners with a resort next door to vastly increase the number of guests in the dining room and at its other facilities. Both these points aren't clear on booking websites. These two points are particularly relevant as we selected PBR as it was affordable and all inclusive for our big adult family get together. So whilst resorts aren't our thing, we assumed we could slip away from the kids and enjoy the sea and surf on our own...this couldn't hapen.
Also to note is that there was no cold beer and the only all inclusive beer on offer was Serengeti. Perhaps cynically, it felt like a cost saving tactic obo the resort as Tanzania produces a few wonderful lagers (Kilimanjaro, Safari) which are sold at the same price as Serengeti elsewhere and are far less heavy than Serengeti.
It pains me to write this review as we did have a good time (mainly being all together along with the engaging staff) and we may have still booked at PBR if we had been informed of its pitfalls but I do feel duped by the advertising and that's not good enough for me.

Dear Hollaab, Thank you for choosing Paradise Beach resort and taking the time to write your review. We do appreciate your feedback and we are happy to read that overall your stay with us was good. We are sorry that we didn't meet your expectations. Unfortunately, Zanzibar tides can chance up to 4 meters all around the island. The jetty is there so that guests can walk straight into the sea or take a swim from there. Furthermore we offer a free shuttle every half hour to our second beach were we provide sunbeds, parasol and you can have a swim. We will look into the descriptions as both Paradise Beach Resort and Zanzibar Bay Resort has the same owner and guests can enjoy all facilities on both sides. In total there are 3 restaurants and 4 pools. Thank you again for your feedback which only helps us to improve.

To begin with, the Paradice Beach Resort and Zanzibar Bay Resort hotels have one owner and they are located next to each other, one territory, a restaurant and all services for both hotels. We arrived at the hotel at about 11.30 at night and were told that the restaurant was already closed and dinner [boiled egg, 1 piece of bread and 1 mango slice] is waiting for you in your room.
I booked the Zanzibar Bay Resort hotel with a tour operator, and settled us in Paradice Beach, explaining this first by the fact that there are no places in Zanzibar Bay, they said to sleep the night, and tomorrow we will move. The next morning they said to come after breakfast, since the chef is still sleeping and They can't help. After breakfast, one boss woke up, waited for another to come. At lunchtime, they stubbornly hung up pasta for us that our agents sold us already occupied rooms and they don't care that you have another hotel in your voucher. We were not the only one. a couple who were settled in the wrong hotel that was paid for in the voucher. The reception staff simply began to completely ignore us, as if we were not there at all. So we lived all the time, since complete indifference to the tourist in this hotel is in 1 place.
You won't die of hunger about food, but the choice is small even for Africa. A separate worker cuts fruit for each hotel, in portions as in which colonies 2-3 slices, you stand as begging for charity. And this is in a country where fruits are abundant. to stand in line to put food. On the 5th day of arrival, the meat from the diet disappeared altogether. When the tray with food ends, it is no longer replenished.
The Paradice Beach Hotel is very old and it is evident that no one is looking after it.
Room cleaning is all about making the bed, adjusting the mosquito net and sweeping the floor.
Coffee bags in the room was only on the first day as was the refill of bottled drinking water. From the beginning, I thought that it should be so, I asked several tourists, they also did not report any coffee or sugar, some were replenished with water. When I asked at the reception, I was told that all this should be replenished every day by the working staff. I understand everything. , but not that way to get rich.
There is no beach in this hotel at all. Tourists group up and take a taxi to the beaches to swim.
One couple, who also stayed in the wrong hotel on the last day at the reception, asked how much it would cost to extend the room until 6 pm until the transfer arrived and received the answer: "$ 50, but if you don't write a bad review then it's free. conclusion about the hotel and about the staff is already only on this statement.
We are not picky and have been to many countries of the world, including in the wild countries of Africa, but we haven’t come across such a disregard for a tourist as a person. Do not spoil your vacation, choose another hotel.

Dear Rimar, thank you for your review. We have be instructed by your touroperator te give the room where you was staying. I think the room was okay. About food, if you arrive midnight the restaurant is closed and normally in the airplane before arrival you get your meal. At least our staff is giving you some extra's in the room, we are sorry that you did not appreciate this. THe hotel is just this year 10 years young and is yearly updated and renovated. In front of the hotel there is a sandy beach and by you can perfect swim from the swimming deck what is build in the ocean. Hopefull you have seen many guest are swimming there. The check-out time is 10.00am, but if you wish to have the room a extra day there is a extra charge for it from 35$. And your suggestion not to write a bad review is different, the reception told you to pay 35$ and you was not happy and answered that you will write a bad review... We are sorry for that, but in Zanzibar you need to pay for your hotel accommodation, it is not for free. However our room rates are very low priced and very welcoming for tourist who like to have a good price/quality

Poor room.
When it rains the water comes in through the walls ,when you flush the toilet more water comes out the bottom then goes down the drain . damp patches on the walls and in the hanging space making a very bad smell,or it could be coming from the broken fridge. While it was raining and some cleaners were pushing the water out of the room we went for dinner so much rain coming in through the holes in the roof more staff pushing water out the doors .
Food very poor loads of spices to try to make it taste better ,it does not!
All inclusive no . Safe key ,beach towel to hire and to change. After 11oclock pay for drinks you do get 25% discount ,beach party 10 dollars each .
Entertainment two good things first the pools clean and warm , second the entertainment team especially Lucas this man saves this place from being a 1 star.
,One last thing came hear for our 40th wedding anniversary my wife and I for a holiday that we would never forget, well I suppose that worked out then because we will never forget Zanzibar

Mold in the room.
Maretial curtains in shower
Shower dirty, taps and walls in restaurant dirty
Building structure moved comoletely floor so scew you sleep 5cm lower than your partner in the same bed
No fire exthinguishers under a tatch roof only indication boards of where they should be. Manager just shrugs his shoulders, not willing to move or refund us for night we dont want to stay there.
Dont expect waiters at restaurant or drinks unless you help yourself
You cannot order a bottle of water( you have to pay for a bottle of water) and they dint stock water at the restaurant
Its not really all inclusive. For cocktails made with local spirits that we know like pina coladas you pay for.

Dear Monique, Thank you for your review, we are sorry that your room did not reach your expectations. We have seen that there was a problem with the mattress structure. This room will have in April a complete renovation including new water taps and a new shower. The fire extinguishers are there, every 2 rooms are sharing one. Drinking water is in the rooms unlimited available. There are water cans from 1.75ltr and are free for refilling on a daily base. If you like to buy bottled water this you can do in the boutique for only 1$ for 1.5ltr bottle. In Zanzibar, we like to reduce plastic and the bottles is one of the problems here on the island as there are no recycling systems here. We have 3 restaurants and in all, we have waiters to serve your drinks. Also in all restaurants there is drinking water for free and without limitation available. Next time when there is something you inform the manager. The manager was a lady on that moment, I think you have spoken to someone else. The manager is always available to make your holiday fantastic.

Firstly, it should be noted that Zanzibar is not your typical 4/5* standard of hotel - just seeing how the locals live is enough to recognise how hard they try in the hotel.
When we arrived we were given rooms 39 & 40 - A/C not working & having spent $30 per couple to gain early entry to rooms I seriously questioned whether I could manage 2 weeks? The rooms were exceptionally dated, hot & in my opinion not as described by Tui. As English guests I asked the Tui Rep for advice, she ignored me? I asked the reception, again to be told that they could not make a decision or help me? Fortunately, by chance I found myself talking to Lianne who as if by magic was the Manager & to her credit, listened to my concerns & exchanged rooms for us. She was exceptionally helpful & truly made our holiday. We were swiftly moved to the Zanzibar Bay, next door to have a totally different experience!
We had a lovely holiday & would recommend Zanzibar to experienced travellers, who recognise different cultures & are happy to experience that!
Yes, ice was a struggle at times, beer was not always cold, the bar staff were not always friendly & welcoming but on the whole they were dealing with difficult & challenging customers in ridiculously hot temperatures!! A definite tip - book into the new restaurant for evenings, it was much nicer with a more relaxed atmosphere!
We really enjoyed our experience in Zanzibar & genuinely thank Lianne for this!!

Accommodation:
Prior to arriving, I liaised directly with the resort with the view to upgrading my room. I was particularly keen on staying in one of the two bungalows seeing as the staff informed me that both had “great sea views”. Not only was my room not ready upon arrival, I was emphatically told that the upgrade I had paid, was in fact not paid. I insisted I had paid this upgrade but was met with the reply “No you have not paid for it” At no stage did the receptionist even consider that the mistake could be on there side. I was told to wait a couple of minutes and they would come back to me. I stood in the rain for 10minutes. Nobody came back to me. It was only when I insisted on speaking to Sadick( reservations manager) that things started to happen. As it turns out, the error was on their side as I had in fact paid.
Upon arriving at the bungalow I realised that I had in fact been lied to and that bungalow 2 does not have a sea view at all actually. Only bungalow 1 has a sea view. The upgrade was a total rip off.
Staff:
If you must go to this resort, you will be well advised to only deal with the the staff wearing white shirts and black pants. The staff in blue are generally quite stand offish. I am aware that there is a language barrier but surely if they don’t understand, they should call a colleague that does. This doesn’t happen. All you will be met with is blank stairs and shoulder shrugging .
The alcohol:
I am convinced this resort’s alcohol is watered down. You feel perfectly fine after 6 double cocktails. Yet go next door to five palms or the other neighbouring resorts, 1 cocktail leaves you feeling “ a little under the weather”.
Towels:
Having paid more than $200 per day, the expectation is that the towels will be of a certain standard. On more than one occasion we were given towels that had been patched up with other pieces of towelling.

What a holiday! I dont think I can describe how much we enjoyed our time at Paradise Beach Resort.
We read very mixed reviews and were very unsure what to expect before arriving. If you haven't been to Zanzibar you wont understand that things are very relaxed and rustic. Broken fences, chipped tiles etc all over Zanzibar. Its just how things are.
Paradise beach resort was incredible, we travelled with our 2.5yr old son who soon became friends with all the staff. Muhammad and Happy went out of there way to walk him around the restaurant while we ate our dinner and played with him. Our son even put his stickers all over the tables (which stayed on until we left) thank you for entertaining this.
With 3 swimming pools to choose from, we had a ball. We did bring our own inflatable pool toys (lilo and beach ball) which I would recommend. It made our holiday extra fun as the resort doesnt have. And our 2.5yr old had a blast with the toys and bukets we bought from home. We also bought of our towels for the pool (saved $5)
The resort offers entertainment and activities daily, from water aerobics, beach volley ball to table tennis competitions.
The food is great, a wide variety of salads, fruit, seafood and vegetarian. They reuse food to eliminate waste, which is fantastic. They turn a vegetarian dish from lunch into a different stew for dinner.
You wont go hungry! Or thirsty. We had an all inclusive package and took full advantage of the beverages. With 4 bars around the resort, you will always be in close proximity to food and beverage.
The wifi is limit, this is the case in most of Zanzibar. We had wifi at the pools and restaurant but, not in our room.
This was our second time in Zanzibar, we stayed at a different resort in 2018 (our wifi was worse at the 1st resort), we would return to Paradise Beach resort as its great for family, couples or friends travelling.
We are so grateful to the wonderful staff who made our holiday so wonderful. The resort is absolutely beautiful and has alot to offer.

Hi Lmojito22, Thank you for the great review. We are happy that you fully enjoyed your time on the Spice island of Zanzibar in East Africa, and that we were able to meet your expectations! Our animation team always do their best to connect with children individually especially when there are not so many. Great to hear that it clicked between them and your son! Perhaps for the future, during school holidays we have a special kids program in place as we have bigger groups of children to offer even more entertainment for them. We hope that we will have the change to welcome you back in the future with us! Let us know if you are planning another visit this year perhaps. With warm regards, General Management

+1
From the moment we arrived at the hotel an hours drive from the airport we were Happily greeted by Mwinyi the Front Office Manager! Nothing was too great or too small for him to do during our 10 day stay in Zanzibar! He is a treasure and I hope he gets recognized even more by upper management!
We stayed at Paradise Beach Resort on the All Inclusive package! This was the best deal from South Africa that I could find and occasionally Over Served!!! Haha! Free alcoholics beverages enough to sink a ship!
My wife and 2 kids 5 and 7 needed a break from the nonsense that has been happening in Durban , SA. So only having Bali or Zanzibar available due to Covid Lock down we chose the Zanzibar!
We were on a fairly tight budget and Paradise Beach met 90% or our criteria! Unfortunately the beach is covered with sea grass as are most locations in Zanzibar don't be fooled only decent swimming beach is Kendwa and has a huge tidal surge +-4 meters but like a lake rather than a sea. My wife isn't too keen on the sea weed so after 4 days at Paradise Beach! Mwinyi organized a day trip to their sister hotel in the south of the island Reef and Beach Resort about an hour away!
Good grief we were in awe at the blue sea! Petra who is Mwinyi's colleague at that hotel couldn't have been nicer by showing us the whole resort! After copious amounts of cocktails and the real feel of a blue Paradise we asked Petra on the off chance could we have our stuff transferred down! We plated and touched the Red monkeys and fed night Apes - Amazing! Petra went out of her way to accommodate us in a lovely family room and like magic there was all our unpacked stuff packed and in our new room! Talk about SERVICE WITH A SMILE!!!!!
We stayed 5 days down there swimming in the sea at high tide off one of the jetty and enjoying delicious food! Reef and Beach is more of a couples resort than a family one so we asked if we could move back to Paradise Beach and again like magic we were back in our old sea facing family room! What at Great Resort Group!
Thank you with all out hearts to Mwinyi for going the extra mile! The food at Paradise is better than Reef and Beach but do your homework before book directly with the group and you 2 could split your holiday up!
Thank you!!!

Dear Julesreeves69, What a great joy it is for us to read you review, this is exactly what we strive to do; give our guest and unforgettable experience. We are happy you decided to sample our sister property and agree with you that both properties have their charm, each in their own way. Happy to read you enjoyed our updated food offerings, we recently updated our buffet with a new 14 day rotating buffet, including several theme nights. We will definitely recognize Mwyni and Petra, so happy to read that hey assisted in creating a great holiday experience to never forget. Besides several resorts, the Paradise Wilderness group also offers Safari experiences in one of our 8 safari camps! Perhaps a good tip for your next visit, as we all hope there will be! With warm regards, General Management

You can’t withdraw cash at the hotel. There is an ATM closest, about a 5min drive.
I was told that the owner can change money (euro to dollar) but he doesn’t prefer small amounts because that’s no use for him.
