Stayed in Owners Cabin for a week. What a unique experience! Great comfortable living in the middle of wilderness. The property is within 3 min walk from Punta Uva beach. It is good if you have a car but if you don't have one - bus or local drivers are available, you have a couple of eating places close by,...

We stayed in the Owner's Cabin for 4 nights and loved it. The cabin isn't necessarily luxurious, but it was comfortable and reasonably well-equipped. The best part was the wonderful screened-in porch, which provided a great place to perch and watch the amazing parade of wildlife. We saw agoutis, Jesus Christ Lizards, all kinds of birds, monkeys, and, right outside...

Thank you! Thank You! Thank You! I have enjoyed communicating with you, and it's such a pleasure to have guests who truly appreciate Mother Nature and all Her Glory. Having such an outstanding beach (Playa Punta Uva) so close, the forever green tropical foliage, the unique wildlife and place them in and around our private, gated half acre+...is, I believe,...

This is what vacations are supposed to be like. After a superb time hiking around volcanos and kayaking down gorgeous rivers through the rainforest my wife and I spent five glorious nights at Toucan Stay Inn in the Owner's Cabin. Our stay at the inn was marvelous. The room was lovely, very spacious and incredibly clean. It also had a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The location is ideal as it is just down the road from a quiet beach. The guard and attendant of the property, Mike, was super helpful with anything we needed.

Punta Uva

Please put yourself in my shoes and help me respond to our first TERRIBLE review.

As the owner of the Toucan Stay Inn in Punta Uva, Costa Rica, I am so sorry to hear of the "incident" that they experienced while staying at my INN.

However, I need help with my response. The two police departments that our guests reported this "incident" to, determined that the was NO INTENTIONAL OR CONSCIOUS act committed by my manager. His sister and best friend took him out to celebrate his birthday. They plied him with Tequila shots. They put him to bed just after Midnight. He was discovered sitting at the foot of the bed of my guests at 4:45 am. YES!!! That is TERRIBLE. However, between the information that the guests gave to the police, and after interviewing the sister and best friend (who laughed hysterically when they heard what had happened)…all indications seem to point to my manager SLEEP WALKING.

Surely this "sleep walking" was a direct effect from OVER INDULGING, but NO ONE…not even the "guests" expressed any fear after discovering my manager in their room. There was no screaming, no running for their lives, no confrontation with the man in the room.

I have a e mail from the guest telling me that they realized it was my manager, sitting on the edge of their bed, and all they said was, "Mike, go" and "Mike, leave". In addition, Mike's sister was sleeping in the room next to the guests, and she (after laughing) expressed an apology for getting him drunk, but said she heard no screaming or commotion coming from the room.

Mike wrote a letter of apology. I wrote a letter of apology to the guests, but they have never acknowledged our communication. They DID post the review which has killed our traditional High Season Bookings completely.

I am a 68 year old retiree who counted on the INN's reputation and income to subsidize my social security. I am now, because you have rejected my RESPONSE are begging you to assist me with how to respond.

We are willing to tell COMPLETE TRUTH behind this episode and even offer written acknowledgement from the POLICE, as well as the sister and best friend who are somewhat responsible for the "celebration".

If I can not respond with facts, this 5 star rated, certificate of excellence B&B will have to be sold.

Please, Please share these FACTS with your colleagues and help us "soften this blow" so we can continue to stay in business.

My last letter to the girl who wrote the review was…"I only hope that no one accuses you of something that you regret doing…that was surely unintentional and done in an unconscious state…but damages your reputation for life". Of course, I can not respond with that, but it should make you aware of how desperate we are to make this go away.

I am quite upset that such a review was accepted to be posted without contacting one of your HIGHLY RATED offerings.

I don't need a form letter. I need serious assistance.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to understand the seriousness of this Review and my lack of ability to RESPOND.

Sincerely,

Jon Stierwalt (owner)

“Jose (the room I stayed in with kitchenette, air conditioning and queen bed) is on the 2nd floor - facing the street and the tiny grocery store. There was some morning and late afternoon noise but I brought ear plugs so it didn't bother me in the morning. The noise was NOT excessive. Great afternoon sun through the palm trees...although this makes the room warm, it was wonderful. WiFi signal was available only by the window by the bed, but owner/manager said they would move the router closer if I wanted it. I just went down to the common area when I needed to be on WiFi - there are tables/chairs/a hammock in the common area - very comfortable. Hose B (king size bed with air) located on the backside of the inn on the 2nd floor as well. 1 window facing the west (afternoon sun through the palm trees), 2 windows facing east. Owner's Cabin (kind size bed with air and kitchen) - separate building, 1 floor on ground level. Has screened in porch with hammock(s). WiFi router was in this building - strong signal. All have their own bathroom - with running hot and cold water. All rooms decorated beautifully and in alignment with the Caribbean feel of the east side of Costa Rica. All rooms have drinking water provided.”
