Bordered by landscaped gardens, Cockatoo Island’s holiday houses and apartments combine authentic heritage character with modern amenities and harbour views. Meanwhile, our waterfront campground is an opportunity to unwind in a spectacular outdoor setting and watch the sun set and rise on Sydney Harbour. Located in the heart of Sydney Harbour, Cockatoo Island / Wareamah is a source of adventure and inspiration due to its historic landmarks, award-winning accommodation, and other popular attractions. A major drawcard is the UNESCO World Heritage listed Convict Site, which provides a window into the era when Cockatoo was a convict gaol (1839-69). Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

It was quite expensive for the service. The staff were not very welcoming but pleasant enough. The highlights are you are camping on the harbor and the view is very pretty. At sunset the very large bats come out which is quite cool to see but they are very loud with each other. Here is somethings you should know. Both eateries close at 430 pm so plan accordingly for dinner. If you get the package that includes electricity it’s only on from 6pm-6am. The waterway is very active until dark then the row teams start at 0500 it might have been earlier but their coaches are very loud and aggressive. What a way to wake up. It was nice just manage your expectations.

Take camping to the next level with a stunning view of the Harbour. The facilities were absolutely perfect. I will certainly be coming back here regularly. 100% recommend the waterfront tents, nothing better than waking up to the water at your door (or tent)

We wish we had stayed longer at the Heritage House. It was clean, well stocked and comfortable. The old world atmosphere added to our relaxation and we were able to go to the city by ferry for dinner at numerous venues because it is just one or two stops via the Rivercat. Lots of things to see and do and the views are magical.

Fantastic new perspective of Sydney Harbour. Great little tent for a couples night. We had a beautiful evening walk, talk and snooze. Perfect peaceful evening under the tree tops. Great facilities and cleanliness. Loved the cubicles with Toilet, basin and shower combined.

We love the cockatoo Island camping experience ! the island has a stunning location in the middle of the Sydney harbour surrounded by blue waters the island has a great 200 years old history where it was a former of convict colony, as well as a ship building yard, a power station and now thankfully it’s been preserved very well with sustainable tourism of tents, studios and villas.

The booking in process was easy. We stayed in 23C a one bedroom harbour view apartment. Very comfortable and well stocked. Would definitely recommend staying there. The views are amazing. We took all our own food and drinks and cooked meals.

Delightful staff, helpful and friendly welcomed us to their Cockatoo Island. The 2 storey federation style house is spacious, with plenty of living areas, beautiful and practical oudoor space including a barbeque. Everything was well appointed, kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms. Watching all the river activity from the numerous verandahs was fascinating! The location in the middle of Sydny Harbour is well serviced with ferry services to and from Circular Quay and Parramatta. We self catered but enjoyed coffees from the Cafe. The island has so much history and there's so much to see and learn about we could have stayed longer than 4 nights.

We had a wonderful stay in the fire station above the information office. Not only is it in a central location for the ferry and cafe, but it also means you don't have to walk up any hills at the end of the night. The views are stunning of the city and harbour bridge and all the creature comforts are available for you.
