This is a delightful converted hunting lodge run by the same family for over a hundred years. It sits on the edge of Ullswater, a few miles from the bustling Pooley Bridge. Inside it is quaint, beautifully run as a family home where meals are...More
Enjoying a bike ride and had planned to stop for a refreshment break at Pooley Bridge, but we still had a bit of energy so decided to continue to Howtown having heard good reports about the new tea room.

Traditional tearoom adjacent to the hotel. High quality fixtures and fittings. Very good, freshly prepared food (including epic sausage rolls!), friendly and helpful staff. Surrounded by the best the Lake District has to offer. Highly recommended.

we only called in for tea after our group walk. I would think it would be music free as it is a lovely old worlde hotel. It used to have music in the bar long long ago where they would sing all the hunting songs but I have never heard of it happening now. My friend went on a sunday night for a meal where it is a old fashioned salad and all the staff are in old fashioned costume.
