What a great place ! We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed greatly the relax atmosphere with the beach at 2 minutes walk. The sea on one side and the bay on the other is just marvellous. Owner and staff really nice, common area gives great holiday feeling. If you want to be alone on the beach, that's the place. Best... More

We stayed here for six nights in a chalet overlooking the lagoon. The lodge was comfortable with all basic facilities supplied. Oom Jan and Joey were good hosts. With it being low season the resort was almost empty and we had a lot of personal attention. We sat at the bar and chatted to Joey on many occasions. The locals... More

After, due to the recent xenofobia threats we almost cancelled our Mozambique trip, it was decided to go ahead - thanks to positive reports received from other Areia Branca guests. What a great decision! We were five families travelling all the way form Cape Town - one family took the train and bus to Xai-Xai! The camping sites were perfect... More

The owners of areia branca are really friendly. Invited us for dinner. Drove us arround. Was surely due to the low season but really nice. The rooms are clean and big. The beach is directly next to the lodge on both sides. Really beautiful place. Keep in mind that you can just reach the place at LOW TIDE! So better... More

You get the best of both worlds, a short walk over the dunes takes you to the most spectacular beaches. You can walk for km the sand squeaks beneath your feet it is so... More

I am almost reluctant to give a review on Areia Branca because I would love to keep it as our own little bit of paradise and not let it get over run. We spent a week camping here and are already planning when we can get back. The locals come by selling fish, prawns, crays, bread, vegetables and fruit each... More

Such a lovely campsite backing on to the sand dunes on the peninsular at Barra, surrounded by palm trees and minutes from the beach, with shade covers and power. Debbie and Louis are wonderful hosts, constantly checking we had everything we needed, lighting the donkey boiler, organising delicious fresh prawns from their local fixer, getting drinks from the bar -... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Areia Branca Lodge is a very well established resort, having been founded by Jan and Joey Bean when they came to Mozambique in 1996. Their hands-on management style, together with a terrific team of local assistants, ensures that you will have the very best service and an unforgettable stay at this stunning location. As well as being one of the most beautiful places on earth it also offers exceptional value for money. The location is such that at certain high tides, the resort is then on an island for a few hours which certainly adds a certain charm to the idea of an island holiday. The resort offers self-catering accommodation in traditional Mozambique "casitas"(chalets), camp-sites under a traditional "barracca" or executive camping in a casita and beach houses on the dune. All amenities are clean and very well-maintained ... more   less
