The Mekong Riverside Resort is an environmentally friendly boutique resort located in the famous “floating market” town of Cai Be Vietnam, two hours south of Ho Chi Min City. Positioned directly on the Mekong River, guests are able to view and experience the local life of the Mekong Delta while enjoying all the unique amenities the resort has to offer. For example, on the property there is a 7-hectare garden that services the resorts Medley Restaurant, thus ensuring that only the freshest ingredients are offered to our guests during their visit. The menu offers an eclectic variety of customary Vietnamese and Western cuisines. Cooking classes are available by our chef and you can always walk through our garden to see the produce in its natural environment before it goes to our restaurant. Day and night tours are offered by boat, bicycle, or by simply walking around the local town and market with our friendly staff who are native to the area. Therefore, they are very knowledgeable in assisting guests and providing detailed information about the Vietnamese customs and culture. Our conference room can hold up to 100 people, and is available for Weddings, Meetings, Private Parties, Presentations or Banquets. At the Mekong Riverside Resort we are committed to staying as environmentally friendly as possible. From our windmill powered irrigation system that allocates water from the Mekong River to our garden, to solar powered walkway lights, we want to make the smallest ecological footprint as possible. We are proud to say that we are pioneers in this “green movement” in Vietnam. The Mekong Riverside Resort is a peaceful property where people are encouraged to relax, reflect, and embrace the beauty of Vietnam and the Mekong River. I was born and raised in the West, so I did not like to travel to the West before, this time try and see, the Mekong Riverside Boutique resort & spa has made me fascinated by the pristine, peaceful and pure beauty. The 7-hectare resort with many pristine landscapes, typical of the South of Viet Nam such as the canal system in the resort, bamboo, banana trees ... The air is very fresh, many birds live in the resort, in the afternoon you can see many flock of storks flying to the resort. At night, the sound of insects and the sound of ships running on the river put you to sleep, waking up in the morning with birds singing in the garden ... those sounds awakened childhood memories of me, making me feel even more love of my homeland. Resort staff is quite friendly, especially the gardeners. Food at the restaurant is temporary, especially the resort has a 100% organic vegetable garden with a variety of vegetables and fruits provided for the meals of guests staying in the resort. Around the resort there are many local restaurants with delicious, cheap local specialties. I especially like the scenery at the resort's pool, where you can lie down, read, watch the scenery and drink a cocktail to see the beautiful life. In short, this is a place to experience relaxation for people who like tranquility like me.

Staff were super friendly and helpful. The hotel is just getting going again after Covid closures so they are working hard to get everything right. The over-water rooms are air conditioned and mozzie nets are provided if you prefer fresh air. The pool area was clean and well presented. The staff booked us a fabulous Mekong Delta tour on a boat which left directly from the hotel. In the restaurant I recommend staying away from the beef and enjoying the fish and chicken dishes. They had wine and cocktails on the menu. The cocktails I had were fab.

This resort is in a great position to look out over the fascinating Mekong River with its constant river traffic.
I had difficulty on our first night explaining my gluten intolerance and received a disappointing dinner. After speaking to the very helpful manager, who had excellent English, he prepared a gluten-free menu specially and we had an excellent GF Vietnamese meal. We found the menu confusing as it wasn't clear that some dishes were suitable for two people.
We had a lovely sunset cruise with chocolates and liqueurs.
Overall, a very pleasant stay.

We stayed here as the final hotel of our two week trip to Vietnam. The resort captures everything that made the country such a memorable experience - beautiful scenery, amazing food and, above all, extremely friendly and helpful staff.

While staying at the resort we made use of the spa (for massages), strolled around the scenic gardens and went on a very interesting Mekong river cruise with our own personal guide. Highly recommended and can't be faulted!

On first arrival, the resort looked amazing and very different to where we had already stayed within Vietnam.
Unfortunately our outlook on this resort changed very quickly, the pathways to the huts were broken and most of the lights were smashed. The rooms were a reasonable size yet the beds were very hard and uncomfortable, also we were provided with dirty bed sheets and dressing gowns.
We had allergens which was provided to the hotel before our stay and during, there were very limited options for both gluten free and vegan. The catering staff were very lovely.
For our included breakfast, we were shocked to find the “fresh fruit” was covered in flies with a air con machine blowing air onto all the food…
On a tour of the grounds around the hotel, we were shocked by how unkempt the are was, at the bird viewing stage the area Infront was all flattened and not a pleasant view. The area of plants infront of the hotel onto the lake was full of rubbish which would be easily cleared with a net (picture attached).
There was litter all around the grounds.
The showers were not working properly, going from extremely hot to cold as well as the pressure changing throughout the shower.
We were provided with mosquito nets above the bed, unfortunately these had holes throughout the netting and also had a large centipede that fell out when bringing the net down.
Before bed time we discovered two live cockroaches in the bedding, which then disappeared under the covers, we were unwilling to search under the mattress as we were having to sleep the night there and were worried about finding more bugs there.
The hotel was advertised with a game area and gym, this was all broken and neglected, would be better off binned.
The reason for the one star if for the restaurant staff, who were so pleasant throughout our stay. without these members of staff we would have rated a 0 if possible.

The service and food at this resort are a treat to behold and experience. Although, truth be told, I'm unsure how many people actually know about this boutique resort and spa. We were on a Mekong River Tour and stopped here for lunch; otherwise, I'm not sure we'd have eaten here since it is so far out of the way.

But well worth the visit and lunch.

I visited with my family. It was a dream place near to big river.
Every Villa is very well designed and well maintained.
One can do fishing from his balcony above the river.
Many fruits and vegetables, all organic. You can pick up some fruits from the trees.
Really loved the place and enjoyed a lot with family.
Team is very helpful and supportive.

We had a great 4 nights stay here in a Riverside room with a lovely balcony looking out over the Mekong Delta. The Hotel is set in beautiful gardens with a good swimming pool and it is really very hard to fault the setting. The rooms are well equipped, as others have said they are not huge (all the same size) but they are big enough especially when you do spend a fair amount of time on the balcony enjoying the view. Here is my first suggestion for improvement. The hardwood bamboo balcony chairs are really uncomfortable, and a great shame they have chosen these, as I expect they were expensive. Life would have been so much sweeter in a soft chair with some nice cushioning. (These chairs are repeated in the restaurant area, another great place to sit, if only they were more comfortable) The other improvement I have is they really urgently need a good bar with seating area. In the evening once your meal is complete, you don't have masses of choice, really just two, stay at your table (on not so comfortable chairs again) or go back to your room.

Locally it is very interesting, but I do suggest a one night stay you would not really have chance to really explore it. We had three days out on the bikes and found quite a few short cuts (not shown on the map you are given) and we discovered a lot in the town of Cai Be. It takes about 20 minutes to cycle into the town but is easy and flat. You can park your bikes under the bridge (you can't miss it) you pay a very small charge to have them looked after and you can look around the market and shops. There are not many places to go for food or drink, but there are a couple, most of the better places are on
the road into town.

For information if you go out of the Hotel and turn left the road goes no-where. You really have to go to the right, not far along the road you might see a very attractive looking entrance with a couple of sleepy looking guards. We stopped outside the gates and the guards beckoned us in, we played a quick game of charades, and it was quickly clear this was a place to eat and drink!! Now, you can't tell from the road but it is in fact a massive oasis inside with a huge cafe and also a restaurant set on a lake, and beautiful grounds it was AMAZING, because you just don't expect it. There are in fact TWO of these places along this road, and the other one is equally hidden away, so one is about 1000 yards from the Hotel on the main road, the other one is about 2 km. It has to be said they don't speak English in here, so we did have a few funny moments, but all part of the fun of exploring Vietnam.

Back to the Hotel and the food in the restaurant is very good, there is a good choice for your evening meal, the staff are excellent. We did go on the River Evening Cruise evening meal, with singers, and a six course meal. It was our anniversary and we did enjoy it, but we felt it was very expensive, and also the guide/rep from the Hotel who goes with you did tend to sit on our shoulder, and pointing out bananas on a boat or whatever, was not really that interesting, especially when we were trying to eat and chat. The food was nice, the drinks were poor, one free beer when you are paying £125 is quite simply tight! We both thought it was ok, but again could have been greatly improved. The seating on the boat was uncomfortable! A cushion or two would not have gone a miss at this resort.

We read on TA on one review about someone having a bad driver for the trip from Saigon, so I emailed the Hotel and made it very clear that we wanted a good driver, that of course doesn't always make any difference, but to be fair, both our drivers in each direction were excellent. Very careful drivers in comfortable cars. It is £50 each way. There are in fact two roads (which we didn't know) one local road which is busy and not that quick, and another toil road which is a dual carriageway and quiet. The toil road is obviously quicker, but less to see. The toil road takes slightly under two hours the other road it is more like 2 hours 30 mins. I doubt you can explain to the drivers which you want as they don't speak any English at all, but you might be able to request it in an email.

All in all we really enjoyed our 4 nights here, we have seen everything we want to see in Cai Be so for that reason we probably won't go back, but I would certainly recommend the Hotel, the small suggestions I have mentioned are certainly not reasons not to visit but hopefully they might think about them as we do think they would improve the Hotel a lot.

Thanks To the Hotel and staff for an excellent time.

When we stayed there someone did mention about a boat that went to HCMC, but we didn't do that. What I can tell you however, is that the hotel-organised tour around the local floating/land market was absolutely excellent. Value for money was great, the tour guide was very nice and had loads of information for us, and we were the only two people on the tour with our guide to ourselves! Maybe we got lucky there! 100 times better than the tour we went on to Halong bay (organised by a generic tour operator in Hanoi), where we were carted around like sheep.

My wife and I wrestled with the same question but opted for the resort stay with a day trip- we were not disappointed. Our excursion group was quite small- just the two of us, an English speaking guide and the boat driver. As a result, we had much more personal interaction and time for questions than we would've had on a larger scale boat cruise/tour. We not only traveled up and down parts of the Mekong River (seeing a wide variety of people, products, boats and lifestyles), we also took a side trip on a much smaller, oared boat down a narrow canal. We also stopped to visit a brick factory, took a short bicycle tour, visited a family, and a place where food products were hand made. We did visit the Cai Be "floating market" but, frankly, we found the land-based market in Cai Be just as (if not more) interesting. It's hard to make a comparison because we didn't do a Mekong cruise. However, we did travel from Chau Doc to Phnom Penh via boat after our stay in Cai Be (about a 5 hour trip by fast boat). While this was enjoyable in and of itself, we found the land excursions mixed with the boat tour in Cai Be to be more interesting. As a bonus, it was quite nice to end our day with a dip in the resort pool after fairly hot and humid weather.
