Another trip to The Carleton of Oak Park. Feels like going home to visit The Carleton yet again. My home from home in Oak Park, Chicago. This old established family run hotel has a very welcoming feel. I met the owner this time who couldn't do enough to make my trip as comfortable as possible. Purpose of my visit was...

Nice old fashioned hotel within walking distance of shops and restaurants in Oak Park. Hotel Parking was free and staff very helpful. Room rates seemed reasonable for the area. Hotel has a restaurant and a pub, but felt restaurant prices were high and the local restaurant selection is just plain AWESOME!!

Wonderful Hotel built in 1928. Our room was a single Queen, a bit on the small side but excellent in every other way. The bed was very comfortable. A bit on the hard side which is the way I like it. My wife really liked the pillows. There was only one chair and desk available, but the room also had a...

Our overnight accommodation in the main Carleton Hotel, not the motel, was as promised: 2 double beds in a large room. We did not find a thermostat, but we were able to turn off the heat and we opened one window to cool room down. Shower was nice. No breakfast available except in Poor Phil's, an attached restaurant/bar. Parking is...

Centrally located and in easy walking distance to all Frank Lloyd Wright's great Prairie Style houses. We had so much room in the suite, and felt so comfortable. The neighborhood was welcoming and safe and close to a train station. Don't let the drive through some of the other neighborhoods scare you.

What a pleasant surprise! The perfect location- shops and restaurants all walking distance as well as the train station to take you anywhere else you'd want to go in Chicago. Very safe neighborhood, friendly people. Free ample parking, friendly staff too! I stopped by early only to drop my bag so I could explore free handed. Instead I was offered...

Chose this hotel due to the free parking, location in Oak Park, price, and charm of the building. Had no problems finding a space to park. Room was surprisingly large and spacious and well appointed, many windows, comfortable beds. We were in the hotel section, not the motel section. Had some troubles getting to our room but only because we...

We chose this hotel mainly because Chicago hotel prices are stupid! We figured we could hop on the "L" and avoid the ridiculous prices. While this isn't cheap by most city standards, it's a lovely, warm and welcoming hotel. The little bar that's attached and separate dining area where we had breakfast had a huge amount of charm! The rooms...

This hotel is located near the historical district of Oak Park. You can stay in the main hotel or the annex. We chose the annex since the price was right, but we still had full access of the main hotel area. It is within walking distance of things to explore - Frank Lloyd Wright and Hemingway attractions, local businesses and...

Note that the lobby is sunken, and there are two street entrances. You will have to carry your bags up and down 4 stairs no matter which door you use. YMCA excercise rooms are good. Easy walk to CVS, Dunkin doughnuts, boutique shops, restaurants, bars, bus, Metra, Green line. Ask to be in old building and for safe deposit box.

Thank Ann P
