So many little things make staying at Prairie Path a rejuvenating experience for the soul. Waking up in the morning and having wonderful, hot coffee waiting for you on the upstairs porch is absolutely my favorite thing! Porch swing, comfy furniture and plenty of homemade quilts/ throws, in case the morning is cool. It's a visual and sensory feast with...

Thank you Denise!! We too enjoyed having you and your family certainly became more than just acquaintances!! We talk of your visit and think about coming to see you and go to the "festival" that you once went to with your friend!!! We surely hope that your son comes back to Timber Lake Playhouse next year so you can have...

Our two-night stay at the Prairie Path Guest House was wonderful! We arrived to a plate full of home-made cookies, and suggestions as to where to go for dinner, a play, and even a haunted house right there in Mt. Carroll. The breakfast for the next two days was fabulous. There were 6 of us in our party and Fern...

In town and in the country. Prairie Path Guest House is the best of both worlds. Overlooking nearby woods, the large yard makes you feel a million miles away, but you’re close enough to downtown to walk to restaurants and stores. For us, it was like going back to the wonderful farm houses of our childhoods, but with modern conveniences....

Fern and Buster, proprietors of Prairie Path guest house, deliver a relaxing, comfortable, and traditional B&B experience. There is nothing commercial about their establishment which makes it just like staying at grandma's house. Their home becomes yours for your stay with a breakfast spread each morning that is delicious and filling. Fern easily accommodated my food allergy. She also rose...

This B&B is exceptionally beautiful inside and out.The rooms are decorated in Victorian style and are spacious and comfortable. Your stress will float away as you sip morning coffee on the upstairs balcony overlooking the countryside. Come to breakfast hungry - it is generous and delicious. Fern and Buster are fantastic and attentive innkeepers. They have thought of every little...

Especially enjoyed meeting the owners and hearing about the history of the place. Many lovely quilts decorating the rooms and hallways were made by Fern. The small city of Mt. Carroll was fun to walk around, reading all the historic plaques. We especially enjoyed seeing the former campus of Shimer College (now home to the Campbell Center for Historic Preservation...

This is a wonderful home. The Innkeepers Fern and Buster serve up a fabulous, homemade breakfast among the blue birds and rolling green hills of Northwest, IL. The rooms, scenery and company are lovely...we especially enjoyed the fresh coffee on the second floor balcony! Fern's coffeecake and Swedish pancakes are as good as grandma's!

The Prairie Path is a great place to spend one night or several nights. Very clean, cheerful room; nice, comfortable bed. Breakfast is delicious. Ours was fresh fruit, freshly baked cinnamon roll, Swedish pancakes, and bacon. Fern and Buster are delightful hosts with a wealth of fun and interesting stories. My family and I just stayed with Fern and Buster. It was perfect! They were great hosts even with Buster "under the weather". The breakfasts are beautifully prepared and home cooked as you would hope to have. We saw the cinnamon rolls rising yesterday to enjoy them this morning. It's all from scratch. Fern and Buster sit with you and...

Look no further than Fern and Buster's home, the Prairie Path Guest House. I've been to many B&B's, but never at such a home like, beautiful place. Fern and Buster treat you like family, and their place relaxes you as soon as you enter the drive. The whole area is wonderful, the people extremely welcoming and friendly. Fern's breakfast is...
