Does anybody remember the former owners who built it? They were Lawrence and Mabel Walker. Mabel was my Mom's (Myrtle A. Potter) sister. Prior to this they owned a restaurant/gas station on the east side of HWY 41 right b/4 you go under 176 (nearly directly above the underpass) sits the motel! My Mom's brother, Andy and his wife Virginia Caviness, owned an exact duplicate restaurant on the east side of Hwy 41 heading north from Chicago. They too built a motel which was in Waukegan, IL, think it was called Starlite on Belvidere. Virginia is still alive down in Florida.
