The Irish Cottage from check-in to check out was top notch. Desk staff was always happy and made sure to say hello. The Irish bar had a good staff and service and music was enjoyed. But the highlight was Brian the Shuttle driver. Brian works thursday to Sunday from 11am to 11pm. Call and he drives you to downtown or picks you up. But what stood out was on Saturday night June 25th, me and the girlfriend were at the Irish bar when she noticed her phone was missing. Brian personally called some of the places we were at and said to call him if phone found. Then the find my phone app showed phone downtown. Brian drove us downtown and gave us a flashlight. Phone was located and we rode back to the Irish Cottage. To the staff of Irish Cottage, Frank O'Dowd's and especially Brian, you are top notch…
LOVE and so appreciate the shuttle service available at Irish Inn as a guest. Great service and so important to us enjoying our time in Galena! So quick and convenient. Keep it up! I’ve been recommending this to everyone!
We wanted to get to Galena early Friday and depart late Saturday afternoon. We arrived very late with a loaner after a breakdown. I went ahead and booked a second night’s stay. We took the two bottles of water provided and with one we made morning coffee. When I asked for more water we were told that there were only two bottles per stay. The website shows the water is included in the resort fee. I showed the staff, including its auditor that the website shows this to be a ‘per day” inclusion. I asked if my usage of the Fitness Center and Shuttle Service were once per stay. I was told no. I was annoyed that the staff was so poorly trained that this was the best they could offer to resolve this conflict. BTW if the daily resort fee is mandatory why not included it in the daily rate? The room was clean as was the restaurant. The room is dated and not worth $200/ night. I will not stay here again. You'll be asked to pay the following charges at the property: Resort fee: USD 20 per accommodation, per night. It includes:Fitness center access/Shuttle service/In-room bottled water/Additional inclusions (we never figured out what this meant)…
We loved this hotel! The Irish style cottage was very welcoming and everyone there went out of their way to serve us. The food was excellent and the outdoor patio with Irish music was great at night. The pool and hot tub was great to relax in after a full day of sight seeing in Galena and Dubuque.
Very friendly and attentive staff. Facilities always kept clean. Afternoon tea is a fun way to mingle with other guests. Breakfast buffet in the morning is top notch. Excellent live entertainment in the restaurant/lounge on weekends. Available shuttlebus to downtown shopping and dining.
This hotel is very disappointing. The room is small and dated, towels are old and frayed. No actual wet bar just two bottles of water in the fridge. Tea time was not what was shown on the website. Bad scones and finger sandwiches with a tea bag in a Styrofoam cup. It is not worth half of what we paid.
Excellent service and friendly staff. Room was spacious and clean. The entire hotel was immaculate. Brian the shuttle driver was awesome. Friendly and fast. Having the shuttle was perfect to avoid the hassles of parking in the downtown area and allowed us to enjoy plenty of wine tastings. The pub was a great spot to finish the night. Great live music and friendly staff. I’d definitely recommend this hotel.
Charming atmosphere with beautiful dark Mahagony wood designed and made in Ireland. Included afternoon Tea, Scones, and finger sandwiches in the comfort of the Library. Pool and jacuzzi. Delicious food in the Irish Pub, where on weekends have entertainment. Recently added a sundeck. Tammy, front desk, was very pleasant and her love for the hotel really shined through. Would definitely recommend.
Irish cottages The good & the bad. We’ll start w the good. Welcoming tray of food @ water in the refrigerator. Not anything we liked but others might. Spacious room older rooms. It’s clean & quite. Elevator is extremely SLOW. Old yes but only going to one floor. Breakfast in attached restaurant, but Breakfast IS NOT FREE NOR Is WIFI.. charged at check out $26.94 for amenities fee for breakfast & wifi. Breakfast is not that good as they let it completely run out before seeing if it needs to be replenished. Scrambled eggs, sausage, bagel or toast & some gross looking stuff .. couldn’t tell if it was grits or oatmeal or what. Appeared to only serve Coffee.. had to ask for a glass of milk. Not being mean, but not worth $10-12 each. I’m not sure how much it was as it wasn’t broken down on our bill.. just amenities fee. I have unlimited wifi/data I would have not even used there’s had it been mentioned to start with. We checked out early as we had seen all things of interest, it was raining, so many things close early in Galena or opened on weekends only. As this was our last place to visit on a 2 week trip and we had a 15 hour drive home we decided to get a head start. Had we stayed the other night our extra charges would have been double. I was lead to believe breakfast & wifi were free from booking info, Both on TripAdvisor and Hotels.com. At the time of checking in no one said anything about extra fees/cost. It’s not so much about cost, it’s the principle of it, but if they’re doing this to us who else are they screwing out of money by saying “ Oh that was suppose to be removed” it hasn’t & they made no offer to refund me. They should be on top of their advertising.…
My friend and I came to the cottage inn to explore galena with every intent on ubering everywhere. The hotel had Brian’s shuttle. Best thing ever. You call and he is there and will take you anywhere. Thank you Brian! We felt safe and knew Brian would take care of us! Adding this service would be a reason I would come back and stay here
