Friendly staff. Room was clean and all the basics were covered. Aircon worked. Bed quite firm but I prefer that. Some people would dislike it. Bathroom was clean and water pressure ok. A couple of power cuts while I was there but the generator kicked in quickly. Breakfast buffet service let the hotel down. Kitchen staff didn’t keep an eye on what was running out, including plates, so I had to ask for things regularly. Breakfast was only adequate.
The location is quite good and it’s very close to the night market. The staffs are very friendly and willing to help. The room is quite ok and it’s spacious enough but the issues are that there were some stains on the bedsheets and I was sick of their breakfast which was few choices.
Arrived late afternoon having booked the hotel 6 months prior due to the good reviews we had read. There seemed to be some confusion over our booking, with the young girl housekeeper arguing with the man at the front desk. Eventually we were shown to our room where we dropped our bags and went for some lunch, as we were really hungry after a day's travel. On our return we noticed the toilet hose was dripping and the room, bedding and towels were not so clean.. I could see stains on the pillows through the pillowcase, and wished I hadn't checked them..they were disgusting! Made our own pillows, and just let it go as we were there for only 2 days. On the first evening we had our showers at 6.30pm after a full day out, and believe me, you need it as its very dry and dusty in Myanmar at this time of year! We were lucky as the water stopped running shortly afterwards, and didn't come back on for an hour. When it did it was dark mud coloured for the first 5 mins. The next day we went out for 6 hours after breakfast, which was very basic, and on returning at 4pm the room hadn't been cleaned. So we asked the same young housekeeper if we could just have clean towels and not to bother with cleaning the room, as we were checking out the next day anyway. She didn't smile, just said 5 minutes! 5 minutes! so we went out to see the sunset, and when we returned there were no clean towels, so we made do with the damp ones in our room. We visit Asia for 6 months of the year, and have never had a problem before. The hotels in Mawlamyine and Hpa na were lovely and clean with the most welcoming friendly staff, but sadly this was lacking at The Glory hotel.…
About the hotel itself no complains. Everything from the facilities, staff and location was very good. But the taxi to the Thai border offered by the hotel was very bad. The driver was conducting his vehicle extremely bad and dangerous. Going very fast and making dangerous overtakes. He stopped to smoke a cigaret and then stopped again to wash his car. And almost on the final destination he was trying to stop before to force us get another ride with a tuk tuk from his friend. So i advise you to stay at glory hotel but be aware of this kind of taxi service.
Our first room had running water in the bathroom all night and they did not put us in a different room until the next day. The staff was friendly and helpful but clearly understaffed as they were often too busy to help. Our TV went unfixed and there was some water leakage in the stairwell. Breakfast was good and their was a nice view. Good location as it is central and near a yummy food market. Room was sufficient.
