Santa Maria del Cedro is purely a holiday destination. You will not find anything interesting beside the really blue and warm sea here. If you want to explore the neighbourhood, come to Scalea and Diamante (10 minute bus ride, EUR 1.2 per ticket per person, but be careful, you may not notice the bus stops or find a bus timetable). The hotel itself is quite modern. The rooms are small (please, be prepared for a really small shower cabin), but clean (everyday service, towel change). There is no kettle in the room. There is a private hotel beach 50m from the hotel with a free beach service (there are 2 sunbeds and a sun umbrella per room per stay); however, the beach sand is not nice, it is dark, and the beach is rather gravelly than sandy. The animations prepared by a group of young people are decent; however, they overlap with the ones done by the neighbouring hotel creating a mess and noise. The poorest element of the offer is food which is strange as this part of Italy is famous for sea food and fresh vegetables. There was nothing to eat during breakfast except for sweet yoghurt with cornflakes and cakes (no cheese, no ham, no scramble eggs, no vegetable salads). For lunch and dinner you have to choose from 3 options; however, there is pasta, pasta, and pasta in the menu; no soups, wrongly prepared meat and sea food. Porchetta is schnitzel, and cosciotto di maiale al forno is also schnitzel. No panna cotta or tiramisu for dessert. No pepper, no tomatoes, no garlic, no thyme. So, the chef does not have the imagination nor the basic cooking knowledge.…
