Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The staff were friendly and professional. The breakfast was excellent. We had an upgrade as the Wi-Fi didn’t work in the room we booked. Our room was very warm, but we were able to open the windows. The spa was good, but the steam room was very hot, but that may be just us, we enjoyed the spa. The shower in our room needed a deep clean, especially near the floor, it was not good. The shaver socket didn’t work. The hotel is beginning to look and feel a bit shabby, which is rather sad as clearly the staff do their best to make guests stay positive. The place could do with some investment as it has great potential.

We had a wonderful one night spa retreat. We enjoyed the spa, the treatments were high quality and professional. My friend said the back massage was the best one she's ever had. The bar served lovely cocktails and the evening meal was great. The room was very clean, beautifully decorated. The surroundings of the hotel were relaxing. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely come back again and hope to.

Me and a friend visited Hatherley manor spa on half a spa day and we couldn’t have had a better time. The staff were friendly and attentive. The full body massage we both had we wanted to give a special mention to Flo and Ellie as they are just AMAZING. We will definitely be back to try the facials next!

The hotel is an old Mano (I think) I has a great roomand I slept very well even with sciatica pain I couldn't work the coffee machine but the duty manager came up and helped and even brought fresh milk! The only thing I found difficult was there was no lift, but I was helped with my bags, so wasn't too bad I am vegetarian, and 2/3 vegetarian options were not available when I stayed, I also didn't like the microwaved tart for dessert, but it was taken off my bill when I complained Lovely stay. I'm going back in 2 weeks for business near by and will book the hotel again

I was taken here for a day/night. I cannot fault the hotel, lovely staff, fabulous food, a fantastic stay thank you. It's a shame I can’t say the same about the receptionists at The Spa, their mannerisms (or lack of them) were disgusting! When we booked in they didn’t even take the time to look up at us whilst booking us in, they just ‘pointed’ at the guest book in & said ‘sign there’ whilst talking to each other. We asked a few questions about the spa & got very little response/help, they just couldn’t be bothered, I felt like a complete nobody! I asked about some of the products they were selling but as I had a rude/useless response I did not buy anything! This place isn’t cheap so you’d at least expect a friendly smile/greet, I never write reviews but felt the need to for this as it spoilt our stay. I’d be more than happy to return to the hotel but they need new welcoming staff at spa! 😡

Certainly not luxurious, basic at best. Bar food menu very random and not in the theme with bar style food, also over priced. Rooms basic, have stayed in better Premier Inns. Surcharge for dogs which is of course acceptable but no water bowls or dogs bed provided for this surcharge. You then get to breakfast and an extra charge for certain breakfast items when breakfast is included in your room rate. Breakfast and coffee very poor and when breakfast did arrive it was cold. I’d find somewhere else a waste of money for us unfortunately.

I can not thank everyone at Hatherley Manor enough for such a special 40th Birthday. The staff were amazing- so friendly and couldn't do enough for us! The reason i initially chose here was because the customer service over the phone and on email put everywhere else i had contacted to shame. Mel is fantastic at her job and i was blown away- she made me feel like a VIP! So accommodating and eager to put all plans in place to make sure everything was just how i i hoped for my special birthday. I booked a carriage and was worried the hotel might be funny about it but Mel said of course thats fine!!! I don't have children, my dog means the world to me and i felt the hotel understood this and really made such a big fuss of Crosby. He was allowed in the rooms, for the afternoon tea and in the lovely breakfast room at the back- they even treated him to his own sausage at breakfast which made his day! How they all treated him at the hotel meant so much to me. (i let him on the end of the bed for a quick photo as you can see!) I had the redwood suite booked and everything went perfectly. It was a perfect room for afternoon tea for 30 people- spacious, clean and the staff were always on hand to help and the afternoon tea was so nice. All my guests were so pleased and loved it! We had two rooms which were both so nice- i had the swallow room which felt so luxurious, spacious but had a really nice cosy feeling. Crosby LOVED looking out the big window!!! The girls on reception, bar staff, spa staff, managers, restaurant breakfast staff i am so grateful for everything you did for me and ill never forget my stay- (we will definitely be back!) I think a bog highlight was meeting hattie the resident cat- how lovely of the hotel to take her in- shows how kind the owners and all the staff are. Crosby was always on the look out for her lol!! How the staff come across is always a reflection of the managers and owners and you can tell its run so well, it's so customer focused, caring all your needs are met and that the guests have a lovely time- nothing was too much trouble not once did i feel i was there because they wanted my money, out and next!! I can honestly say the managers should all be so proud of all their staff. I highly recommend hatherley manor especially if you're looking for a warm- dog friendly relaxing stay. Thank you everyone at Hatherley Manor xxxxx

Booked afternoon tea for 40 people for a baby shower. The food was disgusting, not worth £5 a head let alone £28. Each tier was for 3 people, 8 finger sandwiches between 3, work that out, half a scone each with synthetic cream, disgusting, the cheapest sandwich fillings, cheese & pickle on white bread, egg on white bread which no one could eat as it tasted weird, ham on brown bread, didn’t even ask if we wanted brown or white, worked out as less than one sandwich each, 3/4 of a sandwich and that was only because I said 8 finger sandwiches does not go into 3 so they literally brought one finger sandwich to us. Would never ever go again.
