I'll keep it short and succinct. I wanted to get away to that ever elusive "English Country Idyll" away from the obnoxious ever present stress of Manhattan and that is exactly what I found here. Ive been obsessed with both the Mitfords and Duchess Georgiana since I was a kid and when I stumbled onto the fact that Chatsworth Estate...

If you are going to Chatsworth House, or staying in the Peak District I recommend this hotel with no hesitation. The main pub has rooms above, and several out-buildings with accommodation; everything is seconds away. My room was incredible and consisted of a bedroom, small lounge and bathroom. The bedroom had a 4 poster bed I didn't want to leave,...

This hotel is in a fantastic location and has excellent rooms and good food. But take a ladder if you have one of the four poster rooms. We have not slept so high before. The one downside was the almost negligible wi fi

We stayed here for two nights in Red Way. The room was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. Our room was a Deluxe King room and we were very pleased with the size of the room considering it is in an old building. We are at the Devonshire Arms on both nights and thought that the food was...

Had a lovely one night stay, excellent cooked breakfast with a huge choice on the Cold Buffet table which was packed with lovely produce from the Chatsworth estate. We had booked a petit room and was worried this would be cramped but it was well appointed and very comfortable. Evening meal was tasty and served promptly by the polite staff....

We had a lovely stay at the Devonshire arms. Perfect place for visiting chatsworth and long walks. Lovely room and wonderful food, but not cheap! This was a birthday treat for my husbands 30th so worth it though.

We'd expected an old-fashioned pub welcome and we didn't get it. Apart from Jack being very helpful, we got the impression no-one was in charge and the majority of the staff were young, untrained and with a distinct lack of customer care (when another guest asked about walking nearby it was suggested he look on the computer with the member...

We stopped for food here before visiting Chatsworth House. Having coeliac disease means my meals need to be gluten free and I was over the moon to find an extensive GF menu including deserts! The staff were helpful and were able to advise on the GF options. We had mains and were full but, unable to miss out on dessert...

The welcome was warm and efficient. We had a room in the 'Farm'. Do not be put off that it is not part of the main inn, it is only a few yard away. The room was large, more of a Junior Suite with sofa and armchair in separate sitting area and a massive, well appointed bathroom. High quality tea,...

I imagine this delightfully located village pub was once full of character, so it was disappointing to find the heart and soul of it has been ripped out and replaced with some bright architect's idea of modern decor. Functional yes, but about as memorable as a Tesco cafe. Our four poster bedroom could best be described as "compact" with no...
