Main negatives Walls in room bare - rooms a bit dated Young staff - no please/Thank you. Untrained Teenagers in a 4 star hotel don’t work. No stools in bar drawing room. All tables were full. Had to stand at bar . Function in Dungeon bar. Drawing room bar counter stacked with used glasses with 3 kids staff on. No training. Management issue. Don’t go if there is a wedding on. 25 seats in drawing room for 85 bed hotel. 25 into 170 residents don’t go MATRE D in Gourmet restaurant saw us at the entrance waiting and was talking to a waitress and the went to a table, took away their plates and then brought them to the kitchen and came back and attended to us. This guy would not last a week in a busy gourmet restaurant. Main positives Excellent breakfast Palm court restaurant food good. Very good wifi Toilet Report: Fine Pricing: Fine if the staff were 4 star and not kids and trained. Recomendations to Owner: Small money on rooms would update. Furnish walls in rooms. Dump all staff under 20 unless they are interested or train them in customer service. Dump guy in gourmet restaurant. His approach will cost you money. He is a quiet quitter. Put this review in staff room. Recomendations to Chef: Gourmet restaurant menu more for the french palate than Ireland. You are in Ireland. Offer more than 1 potato. Trust me in this. Nice sausages and bacon at breakfast. Very good…
I'm only getting around now to leaving my review, I recently visited the Spa for treatmentsin Dec, my husband had his 1st full body Massage with Katie, he said it was so good that he was able switch off from everything..I relieved a full body Hotstone with Sziliva and Oh My God from start to finish, i was floating on air... And special Thank you to Rachael and her staff, the spa is beautiful and relaxing, your team are friendly and polite 😊 and very helpfully. I will definitely recommend the Spa and will be back very soon.
Recently stayed here before Christmas for a quick break, from the moment we were greeted at reception until we left we couldn't fault it. The atmosphere throughout the hotel was magical from the Christmas decorations to a wedding that was arriving into the hotel it just made it feel very festive. We ate in the Douglas Hyde restaurant and couldn't fault the food or the service this was followed by drinks in the drawing room such a comfortable room just to sit and enjoy a few cocktails. 5 star service all round and cant wait to make it a tradition going forward.
We reserved a week long stay during Christmas. Upon arrival, Roscommon was experiencing record cold. Our suite had no heat and the general manager had already conveniently left for the day. On the next day, while downstairs for breakfast the maid stole 2ct diamond earrings from our room. We had to call police and leave immediately, as we no longer felt safe. The hotel manager was far more interested in pointing out their legal obligations and did nothing to help. It’s a run down, terrible place that’s poorly maintained and poorly managed.
I remember kilronan when it was an overgrown shell with sheep roaming the grounds. Even then it was a magical place. To see it now the trees on the grounds wrapped in lights , the lobby full of entranced children and party goers dressed in sequins passing beneath the enormous Christmas tree with her red angel, staff dressed like castle staff of bygone times with a little of that formality and eccentricity is proof, that someone turned a light on that old magic. Not forgetting those older ladies with fresh colours petite new shoes and bright fascinators, Wonderful ladies. There's the fizz of strawberries dropping in golden prosecco, the sound of a piano , a sense of excitement. . Beyond the castle and grounds are still the moonlight lake wrapped in a timeless mist, a hidden tower and fairy house. Wonderful kilronan.…
Just back from a wonderful stay in Kilronan Castle. Staff were wonderful as was the Christmas atmosphere throughout the hotel. The spa facilities are unreal and special shout out to Fanny for the best massage I've ever had. Will defo be going back to this little slice of heaven.
My friends and I booked afternoon tea as our annual Pre- Christmas get together. I raved about how nice the afternoon tea was but to be honest what we got left us very disappointed. One small sandwich, half slice of wheaten bread and a small prawn cocktail, lots of sweet stuff and 3 scones each. I was there a couple of years ago and it was fabulous which was why I suggested it this time but for €35 each it was really overpriced and not very nice. I really think they need to up their game for the price they charge. In comparison I had afternoon tea at the Newgrange Hotel n Navan recently and we got so much that we couldn’t finish it - and it was only €20! I appreciate it’s a completely different setting but just saying …… Apart from the disappointing Afternoon Tea - I have to say Kilronan Castle is magical at Christmas and is one for the bucket list!…
What a hotel . From start to end we just relaxed , enjoyed and was made so special by the amazing staff . Stayed in the Kingston Castle Suite , what a beautiful suite , four poster bed , beautiful old furniture, Plenty room and of course a beautiful bathroom with bath and shower and twin basins . But it was the views from any of the windows in the suite were amazing, Dinner was fine dining in the Douglas Hyde Restaurant, it was perfect . The food was the best I have ever tasted and the service was as perfect , so fitting. Breakfast was fabulous, so much choice . Spa area and leisure centre was just brilliant and relaxing. The receptionist was a blond lady on duty late afternoon/evenings ( apologies I didn’t not get your name ) was just so good and amazing at her job we want to thank you for been so friendly to us and helpful and for printing off directions for us to go visit lake Isle of Innisfree . We will return some day to the beautiful KILRONAN castle…
Myself and my 16 friends attended for a luxury hen party treat. We were given our own room where the food, service and location were exemplary. The value for money was outstanding- highly recommend and will return hopefully soon!
Beautiful castle, restaurant food amazing, but the value.. handle doors broken, mini fridge all taken apart, for luxury hotel? Mouldy tiles, etc..The management should do something, because when you pay 500 per night, you expect things right
