The Horse and Hound is an old village pub, with accommodation above, which has recently been fully refurbished. The interiors are sympathetic to a bygone era when the horse and trap was the main means of transportation. Our beautifully appointed rooms are an ideal resting place for golfers, hikers, walkers, cyclists and sightseers alike. Our lounge is warm, comfortable and welcoming and we have a beautiful beer garden to the rear with a large open log fire. A newer addition to the premises is The Heritage Room - a comfortable and atmospheric cocktail bar with an interesting display of photos, prints and paintings which transport patrons back to a simpler time. While a full breakfast is not available there are some excellent restaurants for dinner and lunch within walking distance. We look forward to welcoming you at the Horse & Hound.

Detailed Reviews
I booked at the horse and hound as it was close to my next survey and needed a place to work for a day inbetween. Upon check in, I was advised that I had booked the wrong days by management but this didnt stop them sorting me a room. As I was going to be here for a few days I requested an onsuite and this was sorted immediately.
the rooms are comfortable and the shower is great! there is toast and spreads for breakfast if you want it but I reccomend the bear paw next door for great coffee and banging breakfast roll!
the bar does food from wednesday onwards so be prepared to order in if you are here early in the week. The traditional music on a Wednesday night is second to none and is not to be missed!!
The best part for me is the restaraunt, such a perfect atmosphere, low lighting, crackling fire and good music in the back ground. all this before the great menu!! You have to try the prawn taco's and the BBQ ribs in home made sauce!
Thank you to Mary and all of the staff at the Horse and hound I will be back and I will bring the team. a lovely experience for a lonely business trip!!

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the Horse and Hound is like many other businesses pretty much closed down. However, Mary does accommodate those who need a place to stay due to special circumstances.
The place is a gem. Beautiful room, lovely area, pretty garden, very helpful owner...we most certainly will return when life is back to normal and we can enjoy also the pub and restaurant in this hotel.
Thank you Mary!

Stayed at Horse and Hound last week and can't rate it highly enough. The staff are excellent and instantly make you feel comfortable. Mary the owner sorted out dinner reservations with very late notice and Mark the restaurant manager is more than accommodating and entertaining throughout your food service. The rooms are in superb condition and the location is as good as any other. A short drive to local mountains and walking distance to the beach, seafront and restaurants at the marina. All in all great stay with great staff.

We booked a two night stay in a 'compact room' as part of our staycation. On arrival, we were welcomed by a very friendly girl downstairs in teh restaurant and were asked to pay in advance before seeing our room (there is no card machine in the accomodation area).
Although tastefully decorated, if a little tired (but absolutely spotless), room 3 is TINY. A narrow strip on one side of the bed and approx. 2 feet on the other, with no other space to put suit cases (the bed had a solid divan base). This meant we were constantly scrambling over over belongings to get in our out of the room, or to use the very narrow en suite.
For the majority of the duration of our stay, the Sky tv box in the room read 'no signal is being received'. The shower backed up and filled the tray within a couple of minutes, which meant, mid-shower, you had to turn off the water for a few minutes and leave 10 minutes between two people showering.
Rooms were not 'made up' nor towels changed between sleeps. This may be as a Covid precaution, but every other place we stayed provided this service.
Breakfast is not provided but there is complimentary tea, coffee and brown bread in a room downstairs. On the first morning, I made a tea and coffee at 8am and there were two slices of bread wrapped in cling film remaining.
As residents, no provisions were made for use of the bar, due to Covis restrictions. Again, everywhere else we stayed made some form of provision for this.
Given the extremely limited service provided, at €190 for two nights, I think this represents extremely poor value for money. We could have stayed in a 4* hotel inc breakfast for very little extra. If we had not been asked to pay on arrival, we definity would have checked out after the first night.
I have reviewed the outlet's Bellvue restaurant seperately, which I must say was excellent.

Very disappointed with our stay here, our room was over the restaurant and kitchen ,it was quite warm but with the windows open it was quite loud and the smell from the kitchen, although it smelled appetizing,it’s not really conducive to relaxing in your room. The water was warm at most on Saturday night and the Wi-Fi was non existent. I have to say that the water was perfect on Sunday and the Wi-Fi was acceptable, perhaps it was the restaurant taking the hot water on Saturday, and the extra people taking the Wi-Fi? Not acceptable though when you’re paying for it. There were only 2 pillows on the bed,I had to go down to the restaurant to ask for more, they were not sure they would have 2 more pillows, but did eventually find them . The bed was dreadfully uncomfortable,it was a “King” bed,but it was actually 2 separate single beds that were not matches,my husband’s “side of the bed” was higher than mine, his side was very hard, mine was just downright lumpy. I won’t even go into how badly they “made” the bed on Sunday ,let’s just say my grandchild would have done a better job. We were really looking forward to finding a little gem of a place to use as our go to getaway place ,sadly this will definitely not be it.

Stayed here overnight while attending a wedding in the Druids glen. was a lovely spot and would have loved to have stayed longer. the room was spotlessly clean, very spacious and comfortable. very easy in terms of booking in and checking out. we had room 5 which when we were checking out the next morning, we were able to see into some of the other rooms that were being cleaned and it see 5 was bigger than some of the others. very quiet and comfortable. would definitely go back to spend more time in the area.

My husband and I stayed at the Horse and Hound on 6th June 2024; it being our 2nd time to stay there.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were so glad to avail of our evening meal there, this time; the dining room wasn't open on our previous visit. The food was superb!
We enjoyed an aperitif prior to eating in the most delightful bar with the very friendly barmaid.
Our room was immaculately clean and peaceful and the beds were so comfortable.
Also: thank you to the dining room staff who facilitated me with some items which I requested to be kept frozen until the morning; said items were readily available to me early next day. Many thanks!

If you are looking for an amazing place to stay in County Wicklow, Ireland. I highly recommend The Horse and Hound, Delgany. I was made feel very welcome upon arriving. Mary the owner showed me to my room and helped me with my bags. Mary and all her Staff are all very professional and genuinely care about their guests. My room was perfect and all the amenities that I needed. Very Modern and very clean. Absolutely no complaints. I ventured down to the Horse and Pub Pub. Great food, Great Pints and amazing customer service. It should be noted I am originally from Dublin, Ireland, Lived in the United States for over thirty years and served with the United States Marines all over the world. I definitely know an amazing hotel from my life experiences and travels. I definitely would stay in The Horse and Hound, Delgany in the near future. This establishment rates five stars and more!

Stayed for one night. Room was big and spacious. Bed was ok. Only one pillow was given. Could have done with 2 spares. The shower was blocked up and the bottom of the door / shower tray was dirty. As I showered I could see the dirt dislodging and running under my feet. Disgusting. I felt I needed a shower after my shower! It’s overpriced for what it is. Room was also too hot. Had both windows fully open and didn’t sleep a wink because the room was so warm and then the traffic started early on the Main Street outside our room. No fans provided in the room.
Having the guesthouse disconnected from the main bar is not ideal. Having to walk out of the guest house and around to access the bar. Didn’t think much of the bar although locals seem to love it. Not my cup of tea though. No cocktails on the menu either. We left after one drink and went to another pub.
It was fine for a night. But won’t be back.

We stayed at the Horse and Hound for 3 nights. We were given Room 1. This room is very small, it's not a double room. Should only be used for single occupancy!
The so called double bed is very small and uncomfortable. Pillows are poor quality and flat. Very few electrical sockets to use. The one under the table that the kettle is on is broken and unusable.
The bathroom is ridiculously small. You can't sit on the loo and have the door shut at the same time. You can hardly bend down to use the sink as the wall is so close!
We tried to find a member of staff to voice our concerns but you'd have more luck finding Oasis tickets!!! When I did speak to someone in the bar/restaurant area I was told they're quite busy and don't really deal with that stuff!
For the price we paid...with NO breakfast we do not feel the Horse and Hound gives very good value for money at all.
Would not recommend or stay here again.
