I recommend this hotel to anyone searching for a stay in the area! My family and I decided to spend the night in Chicago on our drive back east from Denver. The staff was extremely accommodating. Helped us with directions to the parking garage. Lend a helping hand when I was struggling with my luggage. The hotel was gorgeous! They took pride in their cleanliness and it showed throughout our stay. We had a view of the river and it was incredible! The art in the lobby and rooms is also super interesting and fun. Great stay!
I am also in the hospitality industry & let me say...Kevin at the front desk went above & beyond every time we saw him. At check in he recommended a great parking app. He also printed my rare form so I didn’t have to hassle with it. Then the next day I lost my AirPod. I went back to the room to look for it. & to no avail I couldn’t find it. I was bummed. As we were pulling out of the hotel Kevin came running out saying he found it in the lobby the night before. My stay was short at this hotel but was very clean & every person we came Into contact with was pleasant & smiling. Thank you for working during these hard times & keeping us safe while traveling! I know it isn’t easy. & Kevin thank you for going above & beyond!
my boyfriend and i checked into this hotel yesterday. We drove across the country from NYC where we live. After driving 6 hours from Minnesota, we checked in and wanted to go downstairs and check out the hotel bar and get a drink to bring back to the room. As soon as we got there we were "greeted" incredibly rudely by a mid aged woman. She brought us to the bar and told us we had to sit while we ordered drinks. Then some other lady came bulldozing over and was like "did someone seat you here or did you seat yourselves?" My boyfriend and i told her we were sat there by another lady. She looked pissed and scoffed and stormed back to the front to find the original lady. Then the original one comes back over and goes "why did you tell her I didn't seat you guys here????" My boyfriend and i are like what is going on??? Like what are you talking about, we were rudely sat by you the first time, got attacked a second time, now being attacked again. Like can we just order a damn drink please to bring to our room??? I've never experienced anything like that before. They were so accusatory and rude. They had communication issues with each other and instead chose to yell at us about it. Who does that? Like your coworker sat us here go take it up with her, not yell at the guests! Its my first time in chicago and I was excited but that ruined my whole first day because I couldn't have had a ruder greeting. Also, they sneak in a 20% gratuity even for 2 people. The guy at the front desk provided 0 information on the hotel when we checked in, we had to ask where everything was ourselves. It was just like here's your key figure it out. The room wasn't that clean, I scrubbed some mysterious red spot off the toilet seat with a sanitation wipe and something crusty on the nightstand. Our stay was supposed to be 575 for the total time. I went out to dinner with my boyfriend and my card got declined and I was confused so I went on my banking app and saw they had charged me one charge of 700 and another of 118. ????? So without warning just charged my card 800. Any hotel I've stayed at before they charge after you leave . Or if they hold an incidental charge they TELL you when you first check in. I asked about it to the the woman at front desk and she was again unapologetic and said that they dont tell people when checking in that they charge 300 extra for incidental fees. Its really shocking, ive stayed at a solid couple hundred hotels in my life all around the world and also worked at a luxury collection hotel in boston and it is appalling how rude everybody is. The whole vibe is beyond unwelcoming. The 1 star goes to the view from the room.…
This hotel is lovely. It's admittedly part of a chain, so it has certain uniform standards to maintain, but the lobby is both welcoming, modern, and professional and the rooms are pretty spacious, with a comfortable bed and a big, clean bathroom. The in-house gym is big enough, the pool is nice, and the staff are friendly and professional, and make you feel very welcome. The hotel is centrally located near the Chicago Theatre, the Loops, and the Riverwalk.
I just completed a stay at the RCHD, one night with my wife and son. Let me start with the things the hotel got right. They provided great check-in service and even granted me an upgrade. Hotel looks recently modernized, lovely lobby smell that seems to be pumped into more trendy hotels. The hotel is in a great location right on the River Walk. Quick stroll to Millennial Park and plenty of great local cuisine. They do not provide breakfast for Elites on the weekends when the Lounge is closed. They will provide 1000 points consolation, but when breakfast is $30 a day per person, that 1000 points isn’t even a bandaid. That is within Marriott policy but not appropriate to litigate here. Marriott Elite beware. Second, they offer valet parking for $76 a night, that ends at noon, not 24 hours. So if you valet a car, and do late checkout be prepared to pay for a hefty per hour or second day charge. After receiving supplemental foilio (bill) some hours after checkout, I called the Hotel manager on duty and they were unyielding in this policy. Which is their right. I stayed at this hotel less than 24 hours, but ended up paying almost as much in parking as I did in room charge. Guest beware. Gouging present. …
