Everything is fine with the hotel: location (Michigan Ave, close to various L stations, Millenium park...). The staff at the front desk should smile a littele more. You can wlk to the most important attractions of the city and take the bus nº3 to go to the navy pier, the magnificent mile and the hancock tower.

This place is one of the cheaper places in the area and the rooms definitely show their age BUT the location is perfect and I really enjoyed my second stay here. The lobby is gorgeous but the rooms are small, woodwork needs help and generally look tired. Everything was quite clean though and the employees are quite friendly. Valet parking...

Recent visit to Chicago on a totally booked weekend. Big convention in town made hotel prices extremely high. We finally got the Congress for less than $200. First the positives: great location, price was lower than any other hotel in downtown Chicago, we had a view of the history museum even though we were in a side room-a Michigan Street...

To be frank by reading most of the reviews after booking I really started to worry about my stay. But the room rates were so cheap as compared with other hotels during a big meeting in Chicago that I did not cancel my reservation. Still, I was wondering what kind of dump this was going to be, by reading the...

Cheapest option I could find to spend a couple nights over the weekend. Walked to Millennium Park, Shedd Aquarium, Lou Malnatis pizza and took the train up to Wrigley Field. Great location to walk places and catch the train if needed. That's about where the good ends. Just an old room needing some updates. It felt and smelled like I...

The lobby is beautiful but misleading. I love old properties with character, but a certain amount of upkeep and modern amenities are required. Beyond the lobby, the Congress Plaza Hotel is spartan at best. We had three adults in one room, with one King and one Queen bed. The room was large, but the bedding and curtains were dated and...

On entering hotel it looked very good, very nice reception area but that is where it stopped. As soon as you went to the lift the shabbiness was apparent, a good lick of paint would have made all the difference. Our room was a disappointment, old and tatty furniture, only one uncomfortable chair so had to resort to sitting on...

I stayed at this hotel over the Memorial Day weekend. The hotel has seen better days, but for the money in Chicago, it is an acceptable place to stay facilities-wise. However, the business staff is very rude and condescending. I had no vehicle with me at the hotel. Despite this, they charged me for parking not ONCE, but twice. When...

It's a nice, historic place. But historic is a really good word for it. Like ancient. And smelly. And dirty. And creepy. I wouldn't be surprised if I end up with bed bugs. I was afraid to walk on the carpet in bare feet. This is not a good choice. Was looking for 'redrum' painted on the walls.

There is an annual event (IML) that I attend every year in Chicago during memorial day. I have been attending every year for the past 15 years and it was always held at nicer four star chains in the loop owned by either Marriott, Hilton, or Hyatt and for some reason they decided to hold it at this dump this...
