We had pretty nice staycation for Valentine's Day. This is fairly old style traditional, even classic, luxe hotel in the heart of the Loop, close to Union Station, Financial District, Millennium Park and other "go to places" in downtown. Got early check in, and upgraded to very nice and spacious suite, as Marriott Platinum Member. Service was good throughout. Well, of course a lot of stuff is closed due to COVID, including Lounge. Florentine is pretty spot for breakfast and lunch, but the food options are limited, and somewhat mediocre. The pool experience was downright bad, once again, due to COVID regulations. Even after making required reservation for 1 hour slot, we couldn't enjoy the pool. It wasn't our idea to share the pool with a bunch of very noisy kids, even without COVID. Other than that, absolutely no complaints, and the value was good too. Recommend for both leisure and business travelers, especially if moderately priced.

We had a great 24 hours at the Marriott. It was my daughter’s birthday and we did this since she couldn’t have a party. We chose the hotel because the indoor pool was still open and we could reserve a time. FYI—multiple families are still in the pool at the same time if you are conservative about covid, I wouldn’t recommend it. Check in was easy, staff was friendly, room and facilities were very clean. Huge bathroom in the room! I knew this going in, but am still disappointed that as a platinum member the trade off for no lounge or breakfast was only 700 points. For two kids, two adults (no alcohol), we spent $100 on breakfast at the restaurant. There wasn’t a kid menu. Not a good trade. Also—I was surprised no upgrade was available since the the hotel was empty. However—the staff was great (especially at the spa) and we enjoyed our stay.

This hotel is mostly geared towards business travelers. There isn’t much tourist attractions nearby although it is possibly to walk to the Bean. Overall, a splendid hotel with prompt service as expected from a JW Marriott.

Marriott Titanium. Had a weekend staycation with the wife. If I could choose again, I would have picked another property. Good hard product, below average soft product. Pros: - Location: We live in the city so it was nice to stay in a different part, the Financial District, which is very quiet during the weekend. - The Florentine (on-site restaurant): The food is very good, but the staff at the restaurant is amazing. We ate 3 meals there bc room service is not being offered at this time and the staff was amazing the entire time. They deserve 5 stars. - Rooms: Recently updated rooms. Cons: You know how you can tell the weekend is going to go as soon you deal with check in? That was this situation. - Titanium benefits: The least you can do is acknowledge my loyalty. Lounge is closed, which I understand due to Covid, but 1k points instead of offering a breakfast instead is something I would expect from a Residence Inn or Courtyard. - Requests not followed up: Asked for run of the mill things (water, extra pillows) to be sent up, but required follow up calls and requests to get them. - Front of house staff: I got the feeling that they did not want to be there. I know that the hotel industry is strange right now with Covid and uncertainties. However, I would think that when they do get a guest with loyalty they would make a bit of an effort to make them feel more welcome. If this is how the hotel operates now, I would expect the same during normal times. The restaurant is giving this hotel an average stay vs below average. I will not be back.

Bill B, Thank you kindly for taking the time to provide your honest feedback and I deeply apologize that your experience has been less than exceptional as one of our loyal guests. It is clear that we had some missed opportunities during your stay and I appreciate you bringing this to our attention so we can appropriate address as the experience you had is not standard at the JW Marriott Chicago. Located just a few blocks from Union Station and in the heart of downtown Chicago the JW Marriott provides an island of peace in a turbulent world. Staff were friendly and engaged. The room was large and spotless. Everyone was practicing covid guidelines. The only negative was that the hotel lobby bar was closed.
