I stayed here on a business trip. This is also very good for any stay as it's close to many attractions and theatres. We do get great rates, but I was warned that the size of rooms vary and some can be spacious and others quite quaint. The lobby has a great ceiling and bar area that seems to be...

Very impressed with this hotel. Over the past 15 years, we visit Chicago 1-3 times a year and have stayed at the Omni or Embassy Suites. Because of location (and Hilton Rewards points, rates, and perks like free wifi etc.), we chose to try the Palmer House last weekend and feel idiotic that we didn't stay here sooner! From convenient...

We stayed on the executive level for new years and had a great time. Top notch service on the executive level and great perks. Only issue was being erroneously charged for mini bar items that were MOVED not consumed. Have spoken to two representatives who promised the charges would drop off and they haven't. This marred an otherwise excellent stay....

Both the rooms and the service at this venerable hotel need serious upgrades. Upon arrival at noon I was told my room wasn't ready but they would put in on a rush. When I checked back in at 2:15 it was still not ready but the desk person "helpfully" reminded me check-in was at 3. (Kind of amazing in this...

Dear Kjinnyc, We want to apologize for not getting you in your room as quickly as we would have liked. There are many factors that goes into placing a guest in a room and the quoted 3pm check in time is to ensure that our housekeeping staff has sufficient time to properly clean the room. In no way do we...

We wanted to stay close to the theater so The Palmer House was a perfect choice. We've stayed there many times over the years and there is a wide range of rooms that we've had - some better than others. This time the room was very small but we got a great price so it was fine.

Traditional classiness. Good prices. My room was slightly standard - not real big, the usual amenities. Really, all things considered, my only complaint about this hotel was the understaffed, slow check-in process. Would consider going back. The location in the Loop is close to State Street, Michigan Avenue, The Art Institute, The Berghoff Restaurant, etc.

The Palmer House was a wonderful place to spend the New Year. I enjoyed every second of my time at the Palmer House! I loved walking through the hallways looking at all of the former stars portraits that performed in the Empire Room. I was thoroughly impressed with the exercise room. It had a number of machines that I usually...

The hotel's public spaces are beautiful and well maintained. It conveniently located near the Art Institute and the Private Bank Theater and a two blocks from the Monroe Street (Blue Line) station. The room, on the other hand, was tiny and not particularly well maintained. The wallpaper was peeling off the walls, the crown molding did not join correctly, and...

I was looking forward to my return to the Palmer House after more than a decade. I stayed over the New Year's weekend, and that was a huge mistake. The check-in line went on forever. The concierge and housekeeping failed to respond to calls. Small rooms, no microwave, but plenty of space taken up with the useless honor bar. Worst...

Dear Roadie2000, I want to thank you for bringing your New Year in at the Palmer House but I do want to apologize for the huge crowd. We know how frustrating you must have been if you were not expecting so many people to be in our building that evening. New Year Eve celebrations always tests our balance between security...

The employees are nice especially the housekeepers, the hotel just feels kinda old and the prices aren't the greatest for the quality of the hotel. I do have to admit the location was close to chicago landmarks and the train station.
