I seldom give Excellent but this is it. My wife and I rented the cottage for a week for $600. This is a separate structure with 3 bedrooms which with the queen and king size beds are a bit small but very comfortable. We had a full bathroom (with spacious shower), living room and fully equipped, separate kitchen. The property...

This little gem is an oasis behind the SIU Rec Center, a very convenient location for trips to the SIU campus. My husband and I stayed two nights in July while visiting our son. The building is cozy, comfortable and its historic elements beautifully preserved. Paul and Teresa cooked wonderful breakfasts for us and we enjoyed far-ranging conversations with them....

Arriving on a late train, Paul greeted me, by name, at the front door and showed me my cozy bedroom adjacent to the front room. Before turning in, I read in the front room taking in the wood grains and solitude of this solid framed home. I slept very deep on a comfortable country bed in a darkened room with...

Our stay at the Train Inn was great. The place was absolutely immaculate, and full of charm. Paul and Teresa were warm and inviting, and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The hot tub was heated and ready for us, with robes and flashlight when we got back from our evening out. Breakfast was delicious and...

The Train Inn was our first experience with a B&B and it was fantastic. We stayed two nights in the Carbondale Room which had lots of space and felt very private. The bed was comfortable and the room had lots of charm. Paul and Teresa were so nice and really made us feel welcomed. The morning breakfast experience felt like...

We started coming here as an alternative to the chain hotels four years ago and now return regularly because we consider Paul and Theresa friends. Great place to stay, wonderful breakfasts, and the best hosts ever.

“New Orleans room is more spacious than the other downstairs rooms but on the front of the house and bit more exposed, so I'd suggest one of the other downstairs rooms if you can afford it. But all rooms are lovely and the whole house is quiet. The upstairs room has quite a steep staircase for guests who are a bit mobility-challenged. Families won't find floor space for a cot bed so you'll need two rooms. Ideal for singles and couples.”
