Stayed for one night and would not have chosen to stay any longer. Checked in, but went straight out for rest of day/night so didnt get back to room until after midnight and cleaners had been in and left all windows open and heating switched off. Bearing in mind it was 0c outside our room was freezing. Managed to get... More

The room (Number 9) was in an appalling state: at night we only noticed the main light not working and a general musty smell. In the morning we noticed everything else: the TV wasn't working, the carpet had a huge stain, the bathroom was dirty, and mainly, unacceptably, the shower wasn't working. Above all the attitude of staff was very... More

We had originally booked two rooms, a double and a triple, which I later changed by telephone to two doubles. When we booked in the rooms had been changed but they wanted to charge the original room rates, even though they had confirmed different on the phone and I had given them a months notice of the change. However to... More

A very tired and poorly presented motel with rooms leading directly off the car park. Rooms are extremely small, decor cheap, walls marked and in need of decoration. Room and bathroom smelled musty and stale and needed a good clean. The dust caused me to have several coughing fits in the middle of the night. No toiletries provided. The cheap... More

The room was extremely dirty and the bathroom was even worse! The kettle was a health hazard and the cups chipped and stained. The bedding was cheap and nasty. We decided that as it was just for one night and we had a local restaurant booked ( thank goodness we were not eating here) that we would grit our teeth... More

We stayed here for one night when attending a family wedding - unfortunately halland forge put a downer on the occasion. First impressions were poor and rooms were incredibly dated, but given it was only one night, not the end of the world. Would have been far more disappointed with that were we staying longer. However, it was at night... More

I say unfortunately as the staff are very pleasant and helpful. The Forge is set directly on the A22 so it is well positioned to get around East Sussex. It is in fact more of a motel than hotel, the rooms are set away from the main building in a two storey block. They are small approx. 12' x 11'... More

The place was disgusting, not clean me an my husband were put in a twin room when the double room next to us was empty. The toilet had crap on it. Our towels weren't changed, we didn't even sleep under the covers on our beds incase there was something in them. The bath was stained an not cleaned. An I... More

Location was ideal for what we wanted. Breakfast was good quality and value for money. Able to park right outside the room door. Staff were friendly. On a main road (A22) so quite noisy in the morning. Rooms were a little "tired" and the beds were a bit hard. Outside at the front was fine (car park) but the back... More
