It was a nice stay. Kids loved it. The only hiccup was the food could have been a little better...beds were noisy as well. The good thing was it was close to the beach and road for easy accessibility. planning to take the kids again soon.
The accommodation is very average, you get what you pay for. It is a beach hut, a large room with 2 beds and a small shower. The mosquito net over the bed had a big hole in it. There was a big cracked tile in the shower floor. The ironing board was full of big holes. My reason for giving this place a 2 star is due to the appalling service at their ‘restaurant’. We had lunch there, which took over an hour to arrive. When it did arrive the waitress didn’t say anything, and when we finished we had to walk across to the bar and ask for the bill, and again she didn’t say anything, such as ‘did you enjoy the meal?’. We were just given a look. Unfortunately we had to eat there in the evening as all the other nearby restaurants were closed, including the supermarket. We sat down to eat around 7pm, and as I went to say my drink order the (same) waitress rudely stopped me and said “do your food order now as the kitchen closes at 8, drinks later”. As I went to order food, she says “we don’t have that”, so I asked what do you have and they only had 1/4 of the lunch menu available. There was a table of 10 people next to us who ordered their drinks after us, and received all of theirs well before ours (we ordered 2 cups of tea). I have never experienced such shocking attitude and service from a waitress, it was so bad it ruined our day in Bequia. She really made me and my family feel like we were an inconvenience. Keegans is fine enough for the ‘hotel’, but don’t waste your money in their restaurant.…
One of the best pizzas on the island. Also great value. The place is always there to help. The view is wonderful with refreshing island breezes. Smitty is the owner and always makes sure everyone is well taken care of. They have well prized drink specials and other specials and things to try.
We just arrived Saturday. The staff a very welcoming and the atmosphere is very relaxing I highly recommend this place, we can see the ocean from our room it is spectacular! Will let you know how the rest of the week goes!
From the moment we arrived and were met at the taxi for our luggage to be taken we were happy. We were 3 ladies travelling together and Sea Urchin afforded us a room each and space to spread out. We were cool and comfortable. Staff were lovely and helpful, even before we arrived sorting out our quarantine payments etc... There is a choice of local eateries a short ( but can be steep) stroll away and a cheap taxi ride takes you into Port Elizabeth for others. We were cool and comfortable, lovely hot showers, good kitchen, dining table and lounge area with TV and a selection of books. The apartment is right on the beach and perfect for all activities.Summing up - a comfortable and ideally placed apartment at a very reasonable cost which gets the highest rating . We will be back.
Wonderful experience at Keegan’s. Stayed for 4 nights after clearing quarantine in the Sea Spray room. View was incredible!!! Room was a little cluttered with furniture but kitchen was well appointed and the location was phenomenal. Right on Lower Bay beach, 10 minute (strenuous) walk to Princess Margaret. Sharon the manager was very helpful both prior to and during trip. Highly recommend!!
Our holiday in Bequia was in a rented villa but we went to Keegan’s on three Consecutive Sundays while we were there. We had been there on another visit and this time took advantage of the lovely open beach front restaurant for breakfast. It’s great sitting watching the waves break on the shore of the beautiful beach which was always quiet on the occasions that we visited. Breakfast can be in the ‘historic’ category if you have the ‘Messenjah” (correct spelling) which is the full works with eggs, bacon sausage beans toast and great coffee. The Eggs Benedict and Florentine are also worth trying. With no rush to go anywhere – I would recommend a nice slow breakfast in this terrific setting. We haven’t tried it but as we left around 11.30 – people were turning up for the famous Keegan’s Sunday brunch.…
The best place in Lower bay to enjoy the true Caribbean! Pizza has been added to the menu recently and they are delicious! I am quite demanding, and this pizza is incredible! (Italian style). We tried various flavors, excellent quality! Well done guys! The view is a separate plus worth enjoying!
Keegan's is a fairly simple place on beautiful Lower Bay, not far from the center of town. The hotel is very much in the spirit of the island; ie., not fancy or pretentious, but the people who run it are lovely and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Rooms are basic but comfortable, some with small kitchens, and there's also a bar/restaurant. In short, this is the kind of hotel that has kept many of us returning to Bequia year after year. It's nothing swanky, but it's sweet and welcoming, and the beach is a total joy to behold.
Stopped there for lunch on our way to Lower Beach, and had a really good lunch. Service was pretty fast for being in the Carribean, and very friendly. The conch fritters with the thousand islands type sauce were delicious! I went with the Lobster omelet with toast which was really good. My buddy got the catch of the day which was also really fresh and tasty. Great pit stop for lunch and really gorgeous views of the ocean.
