This was our 8th visit since 2003 and we have stayed in almost all categories of accommodations. This stay in the new Garden wing was unsatisfactory, largely due to lack of a functioning sliding door security latch and missing privacy sheers on windows. The door latch would nev

We recently stayed at The Cloister Sea Island for the Resort Races Half Marathon. It is an amazing property, no detail is overlooked, and the staff is incredible! If you want the royal treatment, go to Sea Island!

The hotel staff is very friendly. The overall hotel is not very wowing. Consider staying at The Lodge. I wish I would have chosen to stay there. The Cloister is also the club house for the neighborhood.

Beautiful, old, historic establishment of the South. Generations of families gather here for Thanksgiving festivities and annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony. Demographics: White and Old Money. Lots of activities, Hawk Walk was my favorite. Great for children.

I planned a Thanksgiving Family vacation for my wife, 25yo daughter and 22yo son and myself to the Cloisters. The variety of activities and range of amenities with the 5 Star resort and 5 Star dining is what made this decision easy. The Cloisters and Sea Island did not disappoi

Is the red tide affecting the Sea Island Cloister beach at this time?
No red tide when we were there. Sorry for the delayed response. It's a beautiful place!

Hi - We are staying in a room with an ocean view at the Ocean Residencies with our 4 and 2.5 yr old in a few weeks. How is the Residencies for kids and what is the distance to the beach club with all the activities? we are considering renting one based on comments from the hotel given the distance from our room to things for the 4 day trip, what are thoughts about getting one for the stay? Thank you
We stayed in the main house area and our young chidren constantly enjoy the beach club and kids club. There are immediate golf shuttle cars and it's only a four minute walk from the main house to the beach club. However, there are beautiful rooms at the beach club and the ocean residences are something we are considering for next year for an extended stay as this will have access to laundry facilities and a kitchen. The place is just amazing. Enjoy.

Hello. How long a walk is it from the cloister main building to the beach? How far from the garden wing to the beach?
Good morning! The beach is located behind our Beach Club which is just a short walk across the street from the main Cloister building and the Garden Wing. Our Bellmen are also available to run guests over and back in a golf cart should you prefer. Thank you! We look forward to welcoming you home!

If one doesn’t want to rent a car from SAV to get to the resort, what is the best option? Uber, independent car service. What is the average price for two.
It is a long drive for an Uber. You can use The Cloister transportation services but it is very pricey!!

Is this all inclusive?
No. Everything is separate. Like $12 for a smoothie and $7 for a rice crispy treat. It is very expensive...but not so much that it impacted our trip bc I knew in advance how costly it all was, including activities. $500 for fishing trip, $350 for sailing/shelling, $25 for bike rental.
