Keeping in mind that this is a very old, eclectic hotel, all the rooms have been renovated and have wood plank flooring. None are like some of the old pictures found on the internet. We just stayed one night. John was beyond gracious and there is someone on site should you need anything or have issues. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!! We walked to the bars and dinner and John had a bonfire when we got back. Sat around making new friends and playing pool. We really enjoyed our time there. If you want an upscale hotel, this is not for you. Very cute, cottage like atmosphere right in the middle of Helen. I would recommend it and we will stay there again if we come to Helen. Where do i start, first off I was lied to by front desk girl who could use a few classes on customer service. We checked in and were told be careful walls are wet my husband just painted. Then we went into room and there were dirty towels in bathroom, and it appeared to not be cleaned prior to our arrival. We stayed as we had been drinking so we deiced to clean ourselves and just make the best of it. We were kept up all night by what sounded like people running a marathon above us. And when we went to shower in the morning the water was ice cold , we called office and they said they will fix when we leave. Fixing when we leave is just stupid. Long story short they said that they would refund my money and they lied. The place is a nightmare. DO NOT STYA HERE EVER...........
The rooms looked like they were remodeled in the 70's. The TV didn't have cable, only Roku. The room was supposed to be a non smoking room but stunk of cigarette smoke. All of our clothes reeked of cigarette smoke, even the ones left in suitcase. When we checked in our door was standing wide open and there was some type of liquid spilled in the middle of the floor in the bath room. The parking is terrible. Not enough spots for everyone staying there. One way in and one way out of lot. Worst place I believe I've ever stayed in.
Just got home from a great mini vaca . The place was older and perfect . It had a cozy feeling to it. The innkeeper went above and beyond being helpful as well as resourceful. The pool table firepit grill as well corn hole gave was different loved the options . Glad did not listen to reviews .It obviously is rustic but isnt that what Helen is all about . it was perfect for my wife 4 small children and I. Roku hulu live tv it was great . It set Helen experience off . felt like i may have been really in another place besides Ga America for that matter . enjoy
Good points: location convenient to everything in Helen, very friendly and responsive owners/managers. (Steve and wife? Didn’t catch her name), outside courtyard with fire pit and pool table is a nice touch, minifridge/microwave in room. Bad points: dirty flooring, room needs serious TLC (get a good dry wall person and repair the walls/paint), needs at least one more towel bar, The beds in our double room were smaller than I was expecting. They are true “full” beds, not queen size. One double bed only fits one person comfortably, no cable tv, they are using an antenna which means spotty reception, we weren’t able to watch the entire presidential debate. If you want to watch anything else on ROKU, you need to use your own streaming service. Advice: you have a great place here in a great location. Hire a skilled team of drywallers and painters and set aside time in a less busy season or week for each room to be closed for repairs, and just get ‘er done.…
