After staying here for 3 nights and reading some of the reviews here (mostly positive, some negative) I've made my own assessment: Personally i liked it overall. Without repeating too much of the things other reviewers have said, I'll just say its a great escape from your everyday life. You stay in "treehouses" which are really just huts on stilts,...

Great for anyone who loves nature and creativity. It's a very free spirited place that requires the ability to just let go. It's one of my favorite places in the world. Vegan dinner included in price of stay. Only call, no email. Must be patient with the staff--they're volunteers.

I absolutely adore this retreat. It was a nice get away into the woods. Definitely read the website before booking to make sure this is a good fit for you. This is not for people that cannot rough it. You poop in an outhouse and pee in the trees. The shelter walls in the coop are thin metal (I think)...

The hostel, I adore, the land, and what has been built upon it is divine. However the staff can be very very pretentious and territorial. Humorous since workers are always going in and out of the hostel, may just me be but I thought the intent of the hostel was to remind everyone the forest is everyones home. Kazam I...

I was at the hostel 25 years ago as a single. It is a rustic place with treehouses where you can truly get away from civilization- even though just a mile from major highway. It is a very spiritual forest where you feel vey close to nature. Run by volunteers and very "green". However the simplicity should be no excuse...

I was extremely excited about visiting The Hostel In the Forest (Hostel In the Woods) and even convinced my boyfriend to make it a stop on our road trip. I had heard some good reviews from a couple friends who had gone a few years back. Apparently something has changed because when we visited it was not enjoyable or relaxing...

We love this place . It's the second time we've been here . We wanted to celebrate my daughters 27 th birthday in a unique way . What better place than the forest . We were lucky enought to be there during the forest fusion in which there were several scheduled activities , if you chose to partake in ....

This place is incredible. The people, the forest, and the lake were all factors that contributed to our wonderful stay. My friends and I stayed for only one night and wish we could have stayed longer. The people that volunteer at this hostel are some of the most inviting and kind people I have ever met. Upon entering you have...

I had a very peaceful visit there this weekend. The food was excellent. In fact the pots were scrapped clean after the group of 20-30 ate. I appreciated the communal living aspect. The work trade residents were busy rebuilding stairs and preparing food, teaching yoga etc. I'm a litte reserved but I do enjoy the energy of the youthful energy...

First of all, I must say that this is NOT a hostel I would recommend to everyone I know. Those who will get the best experience definitely need to bring a certain openness of mind and freedom of spirit. Upon arrival, I was greeted with a hug and a brief tour from a barefoot young woman in a tank top...

“I stayed in Elmo, the chickens roosted in the tree next to me but were kind of loud. It was really high and a great view but maybe ask for something more secluded.”

“Be aware of the idea that most of the tree houses are at least partially open and screened. There are considerable stairs to some of the tree houses that are available. Ask the staff about something lower to the ground if you need to.”

“Apparently the tree houses are allocated on a first come, first served basis so try to arrive early to avoid dissapointment - you may end up in the dorm if you arrive late.”
