The Ben, Autograph Collection West Palm Beach Firstly, the good: We want to recognize some of the staff we found outstanding. Krystal on check in was better than fantastic, Taylor and Beyoni at the pool were most gracious. Cannot say enough good things about them. Our housekeeper, Yolle, was most through. She should be recognized, Now lets talk about major problem #1, We had a bad refrigerator in our room, It would not get below 44 degrees. Not safe for food keeping. I called down about and got someone up to the room, they stated none of the refrigerators would go below 42 or so. This turned out a lie. After I caught a manager on the elevator and told him of problem he confirmed and I followed up. The resolve was to change the refrigerator out. I told him TWICE - just leave the replacement refrigerator in the room while it cooled to temperature, We come back after an afternoon our and discovered the refrigerator had been changed out with the food transferred into the replacement unit The temp read 47 degrees when we got back. Over $60 of food totally wasted due to lack of following my specific request. It did eventually cool to 37, after the food was spoiled. Research on point showed the following: Is 45 degrees a safe temperature for a refrigerator? It should be at or below 40 degrees F to slow bacterial growth, but you can’t know it’s cold enough unless you use a thermometer. As many as 43 percent of home refrigerators have been found to be at temperatures above 40 degrees F, putting them in the food safety “danger zone” where harmful bacteria can multiply. Now, lets address THE major problem with this hotel. It turns out it is party central during the weekends, with a taste of the horrible blaring music every afternoon, The volume of the crap music was a major poolside annoyance every afternoon. Apparently the bar guy calls the shots. Great, an acholic deaf guy calling the shots. During the weekends the crap music is so load the rooms are reverberating. There is even an express elevator to the rooftop bar / pool area just for the partiers. The heck with the guests, just keep pouring the drinks to some youngsters that obviously should not be served. Not to worry, as they are not guests they will just drive off drunk. They need to fire the bar guy who is calling the shots if you want a decent hotel. IF not, just make it clear this is party central and no over 30 need be put thought hell by incompetent, non caring, short term thinking management.…
A+ facility, staff and amazing views/location. My wife and I recently stayed at The Ben of West Palm for a special occasion and it was an amazing experience. The staff was extremely accommodating and went above and beyond for us even prior to our check in date. Krystal is one of the most kindest and caring human beings Ive met in the hospitality industry. Thanks to her thoroughness and caring ways she made our stay a memorable one.
I chose to stay at this hotel because it was in walking distance of the office where I was attending a meeting. I used my Marriott Upgrades and enjoyed a Junior Suite with an amazing water view. I will stay at the hotel on future business trips. I loved being able to walk to a variety of restaurants. I appreciated the larger than typical hotel towels that were provided as well. The only down side of my stay was how loud the rooms' doors were when shutting. You could easily hear when others were entering and leaving their rooms, which did startle me a time or two.
Flew to West Palm Beach the night before a business trip and stayed at The Ben which is a quick ride from the airport. The hotel has a hip vibe and is close to lots of restaurants and a few clubs. The room was nice with a view of the marina. The blueberry pancakes at breakfast were excellent, as well as the freshly squeezed orange juice.
Beautiful hotel, fabulous location, lovely staff but there were some maintenance items that made our experience less than exceptional. The bathroom fan did not work and the bathroom door didn’t lock. Patrons can’t lower the room temperature below 69 degrees and the room fan won’t run independently of the thermostat. Our 7th floor room was under the top floor club, so our room was vibing to the DJ’s bass until midnight. The fans on the patio at Proper Grit weren’t working and DANG it was hot. I’d gladly stay here again but I’d pick a lower floor and probably not during the height of summer. Dog friendly though! Rooftop bar is amazing and the food is good too.
