Didn't get to enjoy the woodsy setting over the weekend due to rain but loved this place. TV reception was awful but that's one of the things we liked. Well be back to enjoy better weather. Nice find close to home.
The kayak launch is a very easy entrance to the spring-fed stream. The stream has a lot of algae and can have a murky appearance, but the grand cypress trees and ample shade make it a very peaceful and pleasant float. The current was not strong so you don't wear yourself out too fast. The spring was nice and cool but there were so many people kicking up the sand that the visibility wasn't too good. The entry fee was really cheap and the campgrounds seemed nice. There is a sand volleyball court near the swimming area and a few shelters with picnic tables.
We seen about 10 Manatee Walked down the trail Played on the playground Had some hot Chocolate Paid $6 for 6 people to get in no lines the weather was awesome then we proceeded to Cedar Key for a great dinner over looking the Gulf of Mexico
The owners are top-notch folks. They work hard to keep Otter Springs beautiful, perfect and clean. The spring is just so pure and perfect and the campgrounds are lovely. They also have a huge covered screened in pool and cute cabins for rental. I loved it there it was serene and a perfect place to relax and get away from the crazy city life.
My lovey and I visited today a walked two of the nature trails and checked out the facilities. We walked a total of 5.37 miles. It was beautiful walking through all the trails. Most of them are exceptionally well maintained. There are some muddy spots but that's to be expected that close to the river. There was hog sign on the trail that starts by the heated pool so keep your eye peeled. Beautiful place!
