Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

this hotel fit my family needs perfectly for our stay. Price is very affordable and breakfast is offered which is great when traveling with children. We also enjoyed the pool with our kids.

After covering nearly 6,000 miles on our Pearson-Ammon summer tour, we have taken the many comments on Tripadvisor as a way to determine our stays. The Sleep Inn on Capital Circle Way in Tallahassee was a hit, especially after arriving at 12:30 am and still receiving a warm welcome. The price was perfect at under $60 all inclusive, the room was clean, as was the bathroom, which is important to me. The shower pressure was great! Fridge and micro if one needed it and an outdoor pool with beautiful surroundings. We slept in to late to enjoy what was probably a great free breakfast. The only thing I would have preferred was firmer beds. Outside of that, we enjoyed the short hours we were there. Thank you for living up to the Tripadvisor comments

We were on our way to Orlando when we decided to stop at Sleep inn in Tallahassee. Very easy right off the Interstate and the fact that hotel was tucked away in woods made our stay very quiet. We loved the beds, very comfortable. Kids enjoyed the pool and breakfast buffet in the morning. Variety of food to choose from and oh ya, waffles were hit with kids. front desk staff were very friendly upon arrival and even at checkout. Getting phone call after checkin to see if everything was ok was a nice touch and they offered to carry our luggage at checkout because they don't have an elevator. We really had a great time staying at sleep Inn and everyone to know that for the price we paid it was an excellent place.

The rooms were clean and it was nice and quiet.

I would definitely recommend this place for the business traveler.

I stayed here 3 nights. It was a very pleasant experience. From all the bad reviews I was expecting it to be very dirty but they literally cleaned everyday. Stayed in a Non-Smoking room. Did not use the pool due to the weather conditions.
Loved the free high-Speed internet, the bed was GREAT and very comfy, flat screen T.V with plenty of channels to keep you entertained, the shower was awesome.
The only improvements needed is the 'Continental Breakfast'... Feels like their playing cheap with breakfast! Also the A/C in the room was terribly noisy! it was old and made so much noise I could barely fall asleep.

For the price I WOULD suggest you to stay here. It's worth it!

I stayed here 3 nights for business. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a very friendly desk clerk and very speedy check in. My room, which was a King w/fridge and microwave, was VERY clean, comfortable and quite. The AC ROCKED!!! (only way to put it :) I like it very cool in my room and I actually had to turn it down a few times. The shower was WONDERFUL, although just a walk in, the water pressure was phenomenal!! Internet worked great too. There are several fast food and sit-down restaurants nearby. Also, easy access to I-10. The only area that needs a bit of improvement, would be the continental breakfast. But, for the price this is a FABULOUS deal. I travel to Tallahassee alot, I will definitely be staying here without a doubt. Can't wait to go back.

To whom it may concern,

I am writing this message as my home and neighborhood are being impacted by the Category 3 Hurricane, Matthew. I would like to share with you my experience with a Tallahassee business and Floridian proprietor.

As we all were, my family and I started tracking the storm before last weekend. In such, we took proactive measures to keep everyone safe with merely the possibility that our home would be impacted. I guess it’s appropriate to qualify what I mean when I say, “family.” This is my wife who is 4 months pregnant with our first child, my brother-in-law, our 2 year old Australian Shepherd, River and our two cats, Jake and Elwood. If you have pets, I’m sure you recognize them as members of your family. That being said, on Tuesday, October 4th, we noticed that hotels to the West were filling up, so we booked a two night say at the Sleep Inn, 1695 Capital Circle NW in Tallahassee, FL, of OHM TALLAHASSEE LLC. Confirmation is attached / below.

On Wednesday afternoon, we were notified of a mandatory evacuation being called for our zone in St. John’s County at 6am Thursday, so we hit the road first thing the following morning. At approximately8:45am on Thursday, I received a call from Sheila Patel, manager of the Sleep Inn. She informed me that while reviewing my reservation in preparation for check-in that afternoon, she noticed that I had requested a pet friendly room. She also advised that they had a finite number of pet friendly rooms, and due to the manner in which my room was booked (via Hotels.com/Expedia), I was not assigned a designated, pet friendly room. Sheila further stated that due to this fact, my reservation would not be honored.

Initially, I tried to rationalize the situation. I wanted to understand how we had arrived here. I walked Sheila through my experience while booking, my relationship with Choice Hotels (Sleep Inn hotel brand affiliation) and pleaded for accommodation knowing that hotels were limited. Sheila, advised that I would need to contact Hotels.com/Expedia and resolve the situation with them. Before contacting Hotels.com/Expedia, I pleaded with Sheila, advising her that we were evacuating and may not have anywhere to sleep. I asked her to make a one-time exception as a courtesy, despite placing blame for the booking error on another party. I reminded her of other stories I’ve heard over the years, of hotels making “exceptions” to their pet policy in the event of an emergency. She remained firm – we would need to put our pets elsewhere if we wanted to stay in the hotel.

In contacting hotels.com, my escalated situation and consideration for a “guaranteed reservation” afforded me the assignment of a relocation specialist. After an hour of attempts, their team was unable to find us any lodging at all. Every property within 100 miles of the area was booked at full capacity. We were stranded. I pleaded with hotels.com to offer financial compensation to the Sleep Inn for additional cleaning of the room inhabited by pets, again requesting a policy exception. No luck.

I contacted the Choice Hotels Customer Relations center and spoke to an associate. In retelling my story, I asked the associate to reach out to the property and again lobby my case. He affirmed the property’s decision to uphold their denial of lodging, despite my reiteration of how I believed this to be a contradiction of the Choice Hotels brand and corporate responsibility. He affirmed the right of an independent franchisee to uphold their position.

From the Choice Hotels website “WELCOMING EVERY GUEST, EVERY PARTNER, EVERYWHERE THEIR JOURNEY TAKES THEM.”

It’s astonishing to me that despite the circumstances, this hotel and its staff chose to deny lodging based on a “clerical error” vis a vis multiple parties.

As a consumer, I feel like I did my part. Hotels.com has confirmed that room choices and restrictions published on their site are both the responsibility of the property owner and their organization. As a shared responsibility, I hold both hotels.com and Sleep Inn for putting me in a situation to book a room that was not approved for pets. As you can see from the below screen shots, this is not an option on the site. Notwithstanding, I proactively searched for pet-friendly properties, and stated the request for a pet friendly room, just to ensure there was no ambiguity or confusion.

Once the situation had been created, I hold Sheila Patel and the Sleep Inn responsible for denying our access to shelter in an emergency. This was a CHOICE that she made alone, despite my appeal to speak with a party empowered to overrule or make an exception to the policy she was upholding.

As a consumer and inhabitant of the State of Florida, I feel that this story needs to be told. Thank you for listening – if you’ve made it this far.

Thank you for taking the action you deem appropriate. Please do not publish my personal information or mention me by name outside of your organization.

Response from sam p, General Manager at Sleep Inn
Responded 10 Oct 2016
Dear Mr. Greengus, I'm sorry that we could not accommodate your family, dog, and 2 cats last week. As you stated you had booked a non pet-friendly room through a third-party website. As a Choice Hotels regular guest, I would advise you to book through Choice Hotels in the future as you would be eligible for all the benefits that our Chain provides. We are one of the very few hotels in our class that are pet friendly; there are several lower class hotels in Tallahassee that accept pets. As you stated, we have certain rooms that are designated as pet-friendly and are noted as such on our websites. We do not accept pets in all of our rooms. During this busy week, we had many, many, guests with pets and our pet friendly rooms were booked. We asked every one of those guests if they brought their pets in case we could move them in order to open the rooms for other guests. Our Front Desk Agents have even taken guest's pets home to accommodate them during this stressful time. We worked with a pet kennel that is 1/2 mile away in order to have rooms for guests to stay. I know this was offered to you as well as we were calling every guest with a reservation to inform them of this option. Please understand, as a hotel that was filled to capacity (as every hotel within 100 miles of Tallahassee as you stated) we were trying to accommodate EVERY guest including the ones with pet allergies. We cannot designate rooms as NO PET rooms, and then put pets in those rooms. This is not fair to the guests that have specifically booked rooms where pets are not allowed. Again, I'm sorry you and your 3 pets could not find any pet friendly room last week but as you stated above this was not a "normal" week. As a hotel, we must be fair and treat every guest with compassion; this includes guests with pets and guests with pet allergies.

I have stayed at several hotels in Tallahassee and have found the Sleep Inn to be the most consistent hotel experience. They always have the best value for my money and the friendliest staff. In fact, I have interacted with almost every desk clerk during my frequent stays at this hotel and found them ALL service oriented. A wonderful stay every time as promised!
