Dickens House is a charming 5 room B&B within a historic house built in 1912, painstakingly restored over a 5 year period by proprietor Ed Caldwell. His attention to detail and love of design & architecture make this a unique place, with each room having an exquisitely accomplished decoration of varying themes. The common areas such as the dining room,...

We were in town for the Tampa Blues Festival and could not have found a better place. While it was really close to the festival site, Ed was extremely accommodating to us regarding our reservation and his house is fantastic. The house is a great piece of architecture and Ed keeps it & the grounds in wonderful shape. The breakfast...

My wife and I stayed here three nights in the Cottage Room. The room has a separate sitting area with a day bed. The queen bed was comfortable and the bathroom was large. Breakfast was very good all three mornings. The location is great within walking distance to several restaurants and bars and the waterfront parks. Ed is a terrific...

Nice B&B in walking distance of the restaurants and museums on Beach Drive. Ed welcomed us and pointed out a few of the better ones, the trolley service and the St Petersburg craft breweries. Ed served delicious breakfasts that changed each day – breakfast burritos, blueberry pancakes with ham, poached eggs with Canadian bacon on an English muffin - all...

This was our 3rd visit to Dickens House. Ed is s great host, and prepares excellent breakfasts including fresh fruit in season. His local knowledge provides helpful suggestions about the area and events. Sharing with other guests from all over the US and sometimes other countries at the round table only adds to the benefits of a BnB. As to...

It's located close to the waterfront and downtown. You can walk to restaurants and museums. The owner is a good cook. He could be a little bit straightforward. Too bad that he might be closing. He's selling the place.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Dickens House in the Perry Snell room. This lovingly restored home is in a nice neighborhood of St. Petersburg within walking distance of downtown attractions such as the wonderful Dali Museum, good restaurants, park walking trails etc. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed for a nice stay. What...

Overall we had a satisfactory experience but I am puzzled how the Dickens House B&B got uniformly excellent ratings. The good: Ed was a good host and makes excellent breakfasts. He is quite willing to converse with his guests and I find this a big bonus of B&B travel, as you get to have a sense of the place and...

We've stayed at our fair share of B&B's over the years - from Florida to Maine, and England to Italy. The Dicken's House remains at the top of our list, so much so, that we come here regularly, as we are blessed to be only an hour away by car. My wife will come here by herself for a personal...

This is a beautifully furnished and really interesting home, and the guest accommodation is clean and very comfortable. It's on a quiet, pretty street, easy on-street parking, but only a few minutes walk from Beach Drive, which has a very good range of food and drink options, and where you can pick up the trolley bus (50 cents a ride),...
