Great time - great bars & restaurants at resort - had a great spinach-artichoke dip & fish tacos at Bongos(?) bar. the 11th floor bar(?) was very nice too. Everyone was very welcoming. I would definitely return.
FRONT desk double charged card on check in. ROOMS HAVE JOINING DOORS THAT MAKE FOR A DISTURBING ATTEMPT TO SLEEP. this is definitely would NOT SOMEPLACE I WOULD BOOK AGAIN.pool area was small .It seemed to be geared for wedding parties.

I would just Google 'red tide in Florida September 2018', and read about it in the news articles, because there's not enough clarity on this issue in travelers' reviews, or on hotels websites, for that matter. I have read in various sources that they currently do have this problem (and it is pretty bad), but it is further south, i.e. on Bradenton beaches and in Sarasota area.
You might also call the hotel and ask them directly. Hope it all helps. Enjoy your vacation!
You should be fine by that time. Came back 1st week in august and siesta key got hit hard and traveled up to bradenton beach. St pete was still pretty clear. Check weather channel updates for exact outcomes
