Reading the description of the "Saltwater Suite" led me to book this room. Took a chance on spending $396.00, which is rare for me to splurge on anything. One of the perks was being able to check into the room early, due to getting text message the room was available. Upon arrival, the room it self was kind of small, but we expected that as the pictures were accurate on that part. As far as the "private pool" it is accessible by the only door to the room, but not very private. The cloth curtains do nothing for privacy (daytime or nighttime) There is a building on 3 of the sides that are upstairs, that can visibly see straight to the pool ( not romantic or private) The neighbors arrived and the visit got worse. You can hear every little step across the floor, every item that fell or was dropped, luggage being dragged across the floor at all hours, because people kept showing up. We were in the pool at 9pm relaxing, at least trying to, as it was not comfortable , jets were turned off, and People walking past to their entrance can see the "private" pool. Not to mention kids looking out at us from the upstairs windows that overlook the "private" pool. The lights in the pool did not work, the pool fountain as seen in the pictures did not work, and when asked about them was told they have not worked for years. Then to give up and go take a shower, well at least i thought that's what I was doing. The "rain" shower heads were not cleaned nor have they been in awhile, as there was calcium build up on both of them as well as the "body jets" , as far as water pressure - that is an understatement. More or less the pool water and the shower water were about the same temp, Luke warm (i call it Lake warm if from Florida) Then nothing like being woke up at 630 in the morning with people running upstairs and dragging luggage, kids running, adults stomping as they walk. I am so upset that I spent $396 on this room.

We found this property on Trip Advisor and, my goodness, the reviews were absolutely correct. The location cannot be beat -- right in the midst of historic St. Augustine. The rooms are all lovely and each one is different from the others. Ours, the Napolean room was easily accessible from the courtyard, spacious, well appointed and immaculate. We were able to see few of the others as well, and they were also wonderful. Each evening guests fill out slips of paper for breakfast, ordering from several possibilities and checking a time that they would like to eat. There are tables both inside and outside for guests to choose from. Each evening there is a happy hour with drinks, snack food and elegant desserts. We loved it here so much we are already making plans to go back! Love, love, loved it!

Really enjoyed my stay. If you are going to do a trip to St. Augustine proximity is a priority. We used to stay at The Loft, but the price went up and for the value we felt The Marine House , by the beach was a great getaway. It surpassed expectations and the service was A plus. Everything projected when you book, manifests when you get there. This getaway keeps all the charm of St. Augustine and makes you anticipate the next trip.

First of all, the location is beautiful facing the bay. Second, remember this is an historic inn. Although very charming, the wear and tear is showing. There are small things they can do to make it appear more updated: re-caulking around the tubs, re-painting around windows and doors where paint is flaking; replacing moldy and mildewy patio cushions. It wouldn't take much but would go a long way in leaving a more positive impression. The rooms are also a bit smaller than they appear in the photos, but are nicely decorated although for the price, you'd think body wash vs soap would be provided, but that is just a small thing. I will say that COVID protocols were terrific. Contactless check in and check out and the breakfast was delicious. And the front office staff were helpful and friendly. I'm not sure it was all worth the price, but again, it may be more about the location than the actual rooms. Plus, St. Augustine was pretty crowded when we were there and restaurants understaffed. Make reservations and be prepared to wait.
