I was unsure if I should write this review, for the sheer fact that I would rather “The Pirate Haus” remain the hidden gem of St Augustine’s Historic District. Yet, that would not be fair to the great people of the “Pirate Haus” so here goes… This was my first trip to St Augustine after over 1 year of researching...

Thanks for not keeping the secret! Sorry that your experience at A1A was not better. I usually just eat at the bar downstairs and service is quick and the food good, not awesome, just very good. Well, I'll take that back, the last burger I had was awesome! For an anniversary dinner I might have suggested Collage or something fancier,...

Pirate Haus is fun. We had room 9 which was great. Space enough and the room was clean. It was very quiet in the hotel and it's a very short walk to the city. In the morning we got the famous pancakes (Dutch style) and met Conrad. Admirable that after 9 years he can still pronounce "Inburgeringscursus" . For the...

This was about our 12th visit to St. Augustine, some trips with the kids and some without them. We walked by the Pirate Haus many times on these prior visits but never really gave it a second look. It looks....hostel-ish. And it functions that way in part, with the community kitchen and the living area down the hall with two...

Thanks for your kind review Gobucs, indeed we are usually full up with re-enactors on re-enactment weekends but we had a cancellation or two hence the opening. I myself was camping out at the re-enactment site as I'm one of those in charge at times, so I didn't get to meet you all, though we did get one of our...

...warmer weather? My sister and I visited during one of the coldest weeks St. Augustine had in years. But the Pirate Haus was a perfect place to stay. The location was terrific--near beach, restaurants, shops and museums. Cap'n Conrad pointed out the must see and must eat places in the area, and had good stories for the mateys. One of...

Thank you for your review! If you can visit again anytime in the next 6 months, I personally guarantee warmer weather than you had during your stay!! I'm glad you and your sister were able to have a great time in spite of the thermometer readings, and thank you for choosing us!

My girlfriend and I went looking for a place to stay for a night or two in St. Augustine, Fl. She's from Spain and was here visiting, meeting my friends and family and seeing the places where I grew up. I am from Jacksonville, Fl (40 miles N) and have been coming to St. Augustine for most of my life,...

I booked with Pirate Haus for three days and Casa Yahalla for four before leaving. I would not visit Yahalla again it felt like a men's boarding house in a lousy neighborhood. Pirate Haus was so fun. It was a comfortable mix of families, solos, young and young at heart. I met people that were so fascinating that I feel...

Sandie thanks for your review! I had meant to ask you about how the rest of your stay went. We have some fascinating people staying at the moment as well (one of them has a knife sharpening hobby, so our kitchen is getting an upgrade as I type this!). Please take a moment and write a review for the Bunnery...

We took our first vacation with both children early summer of last year and a friend recommended Pirate Haus. We were traveling on a budget, and all th reviews of the Inn were superb, so we figured we couldn't go wrong. We checked in after a long drive and the welcome was warm and informative. Conrad gave us a map...

Unbeatable location in the heart of historic district; unbeatable prices; fun & excitingly themed Inn with homemade pancakes & QUALITY coffee morning...if those reasons alone were not convincing enough, from someone who has traveled to 40 countries and stayed at literally hundreds of hotels, b&bs, inns, hostels, etc....this place stands out impressively as an Inn with management & staff that...

Wow! And for my next trick, I will walk on water....well I've found my dream job in many respects and love meeting people, especially my return guests, which like you mention is like meeting old friends. I have stayed at the Pirate Haus twice now, and I am sure I will be spending many more nights at the Inn. The location is ideal, just steps from St. George street but far enough from the noise that you aren't disturbed. The free parking is nice, but even the parking across the street is less expensive than most...

I really liked this hostel and would highly recommend it. I arriived late at night but got a friendly welcome from Chris. Thanks for your kind words! I just want to clarify something for future guests, in that we are not a hostel. We are an Inn and we happen to have 2 'group style dorm rooms' which are for school/girl scout groups, large families etc. When not booked by large groups, individual beds are available for backpackers, students, etc.
