I was first drawn to Pirate Haus by its value. Was looking for a cozy B&B since it seems the way to go in the historic setting of St Aug (vs chain hotels). It may not be the only B&B in that prime downtown location (around St. George Street), but I have checked every other B&B in that area and...

We don't do chocolate chip pancakes every day, just here and there, and in summer when the blueberries are in season and don't cost 25 cents each we do those as well. Likewise with the parking, usually we ask guests to move their car at checkout, but during the week in our off season if the inn's not full I...

I've stayed at the Pirate Haus before and was concerned about some recent negative reviews, so before booking again I contacted those who left negative reviews to try to get their honest opinions. But it wasn't so easy. The guy who complained about the former manager only responded once (we had the same room as him and had no problems....

Thanks for your repeat stay and your observations. As many people have stated before, we're not for everybody. I wish there was a way to rate by price. Ie. We are 5 stars for a budget no frills place with a high amount of personal service, but the Ritz Carlton is also 5 stars but we're not in the same...

The Pirate Haus Inn is the perfect place to stay for families. Unlike most hotels, there's room for families of more than four. The rooms are themed. There's a family room with Pirate themed toys, a TV, movies, etc. For breakfast, your Captain makes pirate pancakes served family style. Everything is laid back and informal, so if you're looking for...

I think I expected too much from this Inn but after reading mostly outstanding reviews I really wanted to stay here. I guess if a place has hostel rooms then you really can't expect it to be the Ritz but I do expect my hotel to be clean. I am not a fussy person but this place is not for...

We sweep the stairs every day. When did you arrive? If it was after some guests had been to the beach they may have tracked sand in, we don't check the stairs on an hourly basis. My manager is actually upset about you calling him stoned or on pills, but T/A won't do anything about it. As for the refrigerator,...

Bed and pillows from the 1800's hard as rocks! No outlets in bathrooms so don't bother bringing hairdryers or flat irons. It was nice being in the heart of the town but it is very noisy with traffic and people going strong until after 3am, not that you are sleeping anyway because the beds are so hard! Don't book online...

We have lots of pillows, in your room there were four pillows. In addition we have lots of pillows in our office, all you had to do was ask. We can't fix a problem if we don't know about it. The mattress you complained about is a Serta 'Backcare' mattress. The couple who had the room before you had no...

my husband and I and our five kids (ages 3-13) had a great time. The pirate haus is located in the old historic district so everything was walking distance and parking is included. upon entering you immediately see that this place is cool. walk up the stairs painted with pirate sloans and you are greeted by a pirate. He gave...

Family stayed at the Pirate Haus on out way to Southern Florida. We have never been to St. Augustine and we were immediately impressed with how charming it was. As for the Pirate Haus, it was a great place for our family. The kids felt at home in the "Jungle Room", loved the common room and its toys, and the...

My wife, our 8-year-old daughter and I stayed here in December and again this past weekend, and had a great time. The location is amazing, and the price really cannot be beat anywhere inside the heart of the historic district. The themed rooms are fun, the people are nice, and I felt quite safe.  If you are looking for five-star...

This place is every pirates dream! Located in downtown St. Augustine you cannot find a better place or a better deal. Rooms are clean and all themed. You can just stare at the paintings on the wall for hours. We have stayed there before and it just keeps getting better and better. Captain Conrad is AMAZING! His knowledge of the...

The Pirate Haus seems like a prime location for anyone wanting to be close to George Street. It has "themed" rooms with hand painted murals of masts and pirate-y icons. The stair steps up to the small hotel (about 6 rooms, a common room, and kitchen) gives the lyrics to "A Pirate's Life for Me." The owner (Conrad) makes pancakes...

Worst day a the Pirate Haus for sure. Chris was going to quit that day, I wish I'd have let him. Instead he invited friends over and got drunk and when guests complained he got abusive. Gun? Uh, it was a toy flintlock that your kids were playing with earlier in the day. I'd have fired him just for being...
