We ended up staying at the Centennial House a block away from the Alexander Homestead. They are owned by the same people. The staff was very friendly. There was a hot water problem with the room we booked so the staff was very accommodating and had us go to their other property. The room was excellent, the breakfast was great,...

We have never stayed at a B&B. We had a very comfortable room however, the bathroom was not convenient. The tub was slippery to get into and very tight when showering. The inn was quiet during the night. Heather was accomodating. The location was great and the best thing about the inn. A short walk to get into the historic...

I looked forward to this weekend getaway with my husband . We booked the Queen Anne and the room was cute and comfortable. However the whole house could use a good cleaning and some refurbishing. The breakfasts were good, but it seems there's only one person, Heather, taking care of everything, she appeared to be overwhelmed. Sunday morning we were...

My husband and I were looking forward to a romantic staycation and decided to book a bed and breakfast in St. Augustine to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Upon our arrival and check in the host told us about a little girl that haunts the house at night. She went on and kept saying that the little girl will run around...

This bed and breakfast is completely run down and nothing like the picture. That being said, we were not even welcomed when we checked in but had two adolescents check us in and drove off after giving us a key. The A/C was not turned down at all and in 80-90 degree Florida weather that sucker needs to be running...

There was no one there when we arrived, had to call a cell phone number to get in. Our room was shabby, worn, and furniture and drapes etc. looked old and unkempt. There was no coffee in the morning, we made it ourselves. The TV remote was not set up with the TV and so the volume did not work...

We stayed at the Alexander Homestead this past Friday night (2/24/17). We asked for early check-in and were told yes. The check in was 1/2 hour earlier than normal. We arrived 15 minutes earlier, but there was no one there. I don't think there would have been either, as there appears to be a permanent note to call a local...

No one present when we checked in. A nice young man came to check us in after calling number on door, couldn't understand person who answered phone. Room was musty, dusty and dirty in general. Would not recommend.

The house is beautiful but not very clean. Nobody is at the house of the staff. Our room was not clean and they did not change sheets and bathroom was dirty. The price was to high for the service. We are not coming back.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Entering the Alexander Homestead through the picturesque front porch from the garden walkway you can hear strains of classical music and spy a small book of Emily Dickinson's poetry in the formal living room - rich with antiques and romance. This is a perfectly appointed inn, with five of the most inviting and romantic bedrooms that hint of lavender sachets and pale hues of vintage opulence. You'll return time and again to the Alexander Homestead! ... more   less
