Room was poorly maintained, but reasonably clean. It was just ugly from poor repairs to ceiling, bathroom, etc. Looked like some mold on ceiling. Arrived at 1 pm and they wouldn't let me check in till 3 pm ... didn't even try ... very unapologetic not even offering to store bags till 3 pm. If it weren't for the one employee behind the desk in the evening who went out of his way to be accommodating, I probably would have rated a 1.
We stay at the Hampton Inn Closest to Universal on a whirlwind trip to Universal parks. The girl at the front desk was very friendly and helpful when we arrived. The room was clean and cool, beds comfortable. Breakfast was good and the girl was very accommodating. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this property.
When I got into bed, I realized I could hear someone URINATING right next to my bed -- it was the bathroom next door, which is apparently right up against the wall of the bedroom where my bed is. I could hear them going to the bathroom, coughing (a lot), blowing their nose, flushing the toilet -- disgusting. I called the front desk and they informed me that's how ALL the rooms are, would not move me. Then I called Hotel Tonight, which is where I made the reservation and the front desk person would not authorize a cancellation!! SO GROSS.
Stayed one night after a day at Universal. The location to Universal can’t be beat, just a few minute drive after leaving the parking garage. At first look, it struck me as dated and dimly lit; But, it all went great afterwards. I did digital check in, and chose my room (404). Room was very clean, well stocked with coffee, towels…beds were ok, not fabulous but standard hotel quality. Shower had good pressure and lots of hot water. Heard NOTHING all night, (except AC unit kicking on and off). Breakfast was fantastic! Western or cheese omelettes, sausage, self made waffles, all the usual. Everything replenished and very clean atmosphere! The food attendant was very sweet and hard working. Also, the evening desk clerk asked us if we needed anything, towels…he and his coworker were very gracious. There was NO smell of cigarette smoke anywhere, and I would smell it if there was. I would highly recommend this hotel, especially for Universal. If your willing, you can actually walk to Universal. There is a foot bridge across the highway, but only if your pretty fit.…
The common area of this hotel and the guest room smells like an ashtray. I didn't see anyone smoking, but it smells. The property needs a deep cleaning. Nobody at the front desk told us that housekeeping is not provided unless we request it. When we asked the front desk for housekeeping around 11 am the next day, they said it was too late in the day to get it. So we are hoping to finally get our room cleaned tomorrow (day 3). We shall see. Only one elevator works which cause long waits. I wonder who owns this Hilton property. It's really disappointing compared to other Hilton properties we have stayed at previously.
