This was a tough hotel to rate. But I’m factoring in my experience at the Caribbean Beach, a moderate resort, and that pushes the score down. Let’s start with the positives. The resort is gorgeous, with beautiful and thoughtfully remodeled rooms. We stayed in Samoa on the third floor with a view of the Oasis (quiet) pool, and access was easy to all restaurants and amenities. And the large rooms with a sofa that converts to a twin-sized pull down bed allowed our two teens to have their own beds with only one room for the family. Access to the Magic Kingdom is unparalleled with the monorail, and since they do security checks before you board you avoid those crowds. Food at the Kona Cafe is some of the best moderately priced food at Disney World. Front desk staff are friendly and helpful. Would I stay again unless someone else wanted to? No. That segways us into the negatives. Check-in took longer than it should have. Which wouldn’t have been an issue, except the only reason we ended up with a room in the 3:00 hour was because my son encouraged me to ask someone at the front desk how long it would be. And it turns out they were waiting for housekeeping to press a button that the room quality inspection had been completed. Not that it hadn’t been completed - it just hadn’t been communicated. Okay, no big deal. Let’s talk about the vibe. We had just stayed at the Caribbean Beach, which had a laid-back vibe and where we were literally welcomed the moment we stepped into the port cochere. We didn’t experience that same welcome here. It could be because we arrived via monorail from EPCOT; but honestly after CBR I just was left a bit cold. It’s a deluxe resort! Also, there were times when I felt downright unwelcome and like we didn’t belong. Mind you, we paid the same money as anyone else, and sometimes more. For instance, we rented a cabana at the Oasis pool. But when we arrived it didn’t have our nameplate. So we spent a good half hour sitting there awkwardly, worried that we’d look like we hadn’t paid. Add to that, the waitress at the bar of the Oasis actually skipped us (twice) and did not come to take our order. Like, she literally was having conversations with the other families. Tom the bartender really saved this, since I ended up going to the bar to place my order. I had to carry my own drinks but he took the time to bring our food to us. Reminder: I paid $50 for a cabana at a deluxe resort and was treated as lesser than the people that did not. In addition, food service was hit or miss. We got attitude from a host when we showed up for a reservation without our full party. I’m okay with this policy, but we’d just been to Citricos the night before, where they seated us even though my husband was delayed paying the bill at the lounge next door. And the restaurant was more than half empty. Kindness would have gone a long way there. Also, Captain Cooks, the quick service restaurant, was something of a zoo the whole time. There are lots of non-resort guests eating there to get away from MK crowds. And the food was only OK. We also noticed the crowds here were less diverse than at CBR or even the Grand Floridian, and as an interracial family that matters. Finally, when our driver wasn’t able to get to us in time for us to make our flight because of the marathon traffic, the staff only suggested we talk to the bus driver of the next Magical Express to see if there was room. They couldn’t contact the service to make a reservation for us, and didn’t offer to hail down a cab among the transports that had already made it through. Hubby ended up taking matters into his own hands and engaging a taxi. Again - this is at a deluxe resort, with a price tag of over $750 a night. After all is said and done, I’m glad we stayed at a deluxe to get access to the extended evening hours at MK. But I don’t think I’ve found my preferred deluxe experience here.

Air conditioning is a big part of comfort at night and here, you’re set to 68 degrees. Unlike any cheap motel or any of the other 7 Disney resorts I’ve been to where you get to be in control, no this resort has decided for you that you can sweat all night at 68. If 68 is comfortable for you, I’m happy for you. But the choice should be in the guests hands. And waking up sweating instantly puts me in a bad mood. Called front desk- can’t change it. Someone from “engineering” will have to physically come in now at 6am where my sleeping daughters are to adjust it. This is a huge flaw. It’s gross to charge what they do and not let you choose the temp of the room. Uber let’s you choose the temp of your ride but for thousands of dollars per stay- how dare you think you get to decide what temp you sleep at. I can’t book here again knowing I won’t be comfortable or will have to face someone at 6am when I just want to be left alone for awhile. I’d like to go back to sleep but can’t bc I’m hot and annoyed and now waiting for a person to come change it. Imagine needing someone to adjust your thermostat for you.. this is just weird and controlling on another level. So far visiting in 2022 has been nothing but price increases that are incredibly noticeable, every comfort removed, and the constant reminder that if you’ve traveled here before things are NOT the same.

I just returned and really enjoyed this resort . They honored my room request for connecting rooms , the rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Mini fridges and a stocked bar area with teas and coffee and a Kurig machine . Everyone was friendly , responsive and helpful. I paid for a standard but couldn’t be more pleased. We were on the second floor (no balcony) in the Rarotonga Building which was a few steps from the Great Ceremonial House and close to the pool. We actually saw the Magic Kingdom Fireworks from our room (2803) They don’t have a fitness center but you have access to the fitness center at the Grand Floridian and it is a 10 minute walk along the walkway at the lake. I thought the fitness center was more than adequate for a workout while on vacation. Your magic band gives you access since it is a locked fitness center open 24 hours a day. We had two 3 year old twins with us and they loved the zero entry pool and had a blast. The lifeguards there were definitely there to keep everyone safe. Eyes were always on the pool. They each had their “area” of the pool to supervise and they were on their game ! There was an area right by the towels that held three sizes of life jackets for the little ones . The hot tub was nice and well maintained. No one likes the smell of chlorine however you know it’s maintained when you smell it. It wasn’t overpowering and I would have thought twice before getting in if I didn’t smell it! We got into Ohana for breakfast on the standby list so that was great but Captain Cooks was a popular spot with a fair variety and fairly quick service. If I have one complaint it was the bell service. Upon arrival our room wasn’t ready so we gave our bags to them while we explored the resort and got something to eat. Our room became available and we went to the rooms and have our room numbers to the bell service. It took forever!!! We had paid for two “special”lightening lane rides in Epcot and where on a “schedule” so to speak…..my husband finally went to hunt down the luggage and found it sitting out front on a dolly …. We handled our own bags and went to Epcot and missed out on our first “special” lightening lane purchase of Frozen….now don’t think I just booked it too early. Our arrival at the resort was around 2:30 … check in was 3:00….room wasn’t ready but was ready shortly after…. Our Frozen was booked for 5 and gave us an hour window to use so 5-6 but we STILL missed it waiting for luggage that we had to go get ourselves. …. FYI …they won’t deliver luggage without someone in the room…..So maybe don’t use it if you don’t have to…. It didn’t ruin my trip it was just a short lived blip and a mental note to self . I would stay at the Polynesian again for sure .

We stayed at the Poly on November 12th. We came from Canada after not being able to travel to Disney for some time due to covid and travel restrictions. We are DVC and this was our 2nd DVC trip, we do not own at Poly. Unfortunately we were only able to score one night here at the start of our trip as it was booked solid. We arrived around 10:30 (made sure to get in early to enjoy the one day at the hotel), our room was not ready until 5pm or so which was a bit of a pain but not much can be done. We were in Tokelau, standard view but we ended up with a partial theme park view! Our room was a great size (studio) and we loved the shower and bathtub split! Bed was comfy, room was quiet, clean, everything I've always expected and received at Disney. Staff was accomodating and wanting to help, front desk was welcoming. Shopping is great at this hotel but stock was definietly lacking as it was all over Disney. We are at Capt Cook's which I actually wasn't impressed with. We did not get a chance to use the Oasis pool but we did use the Lava Pool and so far, it's our favourite pool/water slide in all the hotels we've stayed at. Oasis pool bar had delicious and fresh food (chicken avocado wrap was delilsh and big enough to split with my husband). PLUS the main reason for staying at the Poly - Dole Whips! Spiked Dole Whip!! YUM!! This was my daughter's dream resort and it did not disappoint! From the stitch touches all over our room (she's a big stitch fan), to fireworks on the beach, all you can eat dole whip and space mountain from our room, we definietly fell for this hotel and will be back (Hopefully Nov 2022!!!)

Came for just one night - as live within a few hours drive away. Stayed here only as out of state family was staying here for the week, and we wanted to be near them. Was easy to park at property when we arrived early on a Saturday - and couldn't check in yet. All was done on the app - so no need to wait in any lines. Room had a really nice view of the pond/lake facing MK. Was really expensive for 1 night and a pretty basic room, but to be expected with Disney. No free bottles of water, no turn-down service. Wouldn't stay there again, mainly due to cost - as can do better.
