We were able to make last minute reservations to the park and it was very helpful since we were using this as a resort day but our 3 year old was way too hyper. The hotel was great and affordable. It is very convenient to a lot of shopping and the ability to walk to the parks was nice.
As someone who has stayed in a good number of Disney hotels over the years, this was my first stay in a Universal property. I traveled with my wife and sons (both aged 12) and we stayed for a few nights. This place is fantastic, it has a great theme with 50s vibe, two wonderful pools, but the icing on the cake was the lazy river! Our boys spent hours in that, it was a highlight of the trip. Meals were great with plenty of options, the staff were awesome, and the transport to the Universal parks was reliable and efficient. We’d happily stay here again!
We loved this resort. We got one of the suites that overlooks the volcano because we wanted a family-room type space and this was perfect. The Swizzle Bar was a blast and everyone at the resort was friendly and helpful. There was never a problem finding a place to sit at the diner and lots of food choices. The food was decent. The buses were spot-on for our entire stay. We would definitely come back again!
It was clean, nice and reasonably priced. You can either walk or take the bus to the park. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend and stay again. The only downside is there is no fast pass.
We spent three nights here and found it to be one of Orlando's best resorts. It was our first time at Cabana Bay and we absolutely loved it. It was just me and my husband, but we opted for a family suite (interior entry) for the extra space and the reasonable price. The room was spotless when we checked in, and we even got light housekeeping (beds made, towels replaced, trash emptied) on the second day, even though we hadn't requested it. We loved the 50s-60s vibe throughout the hotel, especially in our room, which was fun and colorful. We appreciated the heavy (and stylish!) sliding door between the 'living room' and the 'bedroom' since it blocked out any hallway noise. There were two separate sink areas, not just double sinks, which was a nice feature. The larger of the two had actual drawers for storing toiletries, something I've never seen in any hotel. The food court had a decent selection of sandwiches and salads; we ate there two of our three nights. Best of all was the pool (the one next to the lazy river), where we spent a fair amount of time hanging out and sipping rum drinks (all refills are $2 off if you give them your refillable plastic cup). We were impressed that the bar had 2-4 bartenders helping guests, and service was great throughout the rest of the hotel as well. Shuttle service to the parks was excellent--we never had to wait more than five minutes on either end. The only bummer was that the lazy river was closed during our time there. Considering its size, it's a very well run resort, and we've already booked a longer stay there in November!…
Just returned from a 7 day vacation to cabana bay. Great vacation. Rooms were immaculate. Food court was top notch. Such a nice staff. Beautiful pools and the grounds are gorgeous. Been there 3 times. Wouldn’t go anywhere else
I think they look up who you are (with our technology) and if someone pays under cover or is maybe personal to the person that gave your room away. Even if you pay in full and book it a month in advance, they will give your room away. Then tell you about no notations was stated. Hello, the Only Notation should have been stated is what was offer and what I had order Poolside Family Suite Exterior Entry. Not a second floor that is not good for my handicapped nephew.
The only reason I came here was for enjoying the lazy river with my family. I live nearby so it was a "staycation". The lazy river was not open on my visit. I politely asked if zi could reschedule my trip since I live close by. They told me no. So I'm stuck 30 minutes from my house at a crowded pool. I have a pool at home! And cheaper food! I do like it here when the lazy river is operating however....
The Cabana Bay Resort is really nice, just make sure to check all of the bedding when you check in for stains, not just the sheets and pillowcases, the beds and pillows also. I always check because these things are always covered when you enter the room. Overall a very good place to stay with many activities if you do not want to spend the entire day at the parks.
Just returned after a 5 night stay at Universal Cabana Bay. I must say I was a little hesitant at first because of some of the reviews posted, but I’m glad I went and experienced the awesomeness of this resort myself. We booked transport from the airport through Universal Superstar Shuttle. Roundtrip for two of us was $68. The shuttle was easy, clean, and prompt. We arrived at the hotel at 4:10pm expecting a crowd at check in based on prior reviews. It was exactly the opposite. There were 3 people ahead of us. We were checked in within 15 minutes and given our room keys, map of the resort, and all questions we had were answered. Plus we were given a free upgrade of our standard room to one with a pool side view. Room 6622 is where we stayed in the Continental Building on the 6th floor. The room was immaculate!! Everything was clean, neat, and looked like new. The view was amazing!! We overlooked the pool, lazy river, and had a view of Volcano Bay. Being up on the 6th floor I wasn’t bothered by any noise from the pool. I assume the folks who complained about noise stayed on much lower floors. Housekeeping came 3 out of the 6 days we were there. They were thorough and always left lots of towels. We ate at Bayliner Diner a few times. The food is good, but the menu repeats daily with a few variations. We enjoyed the breakfast options the most. The same menu is offered for lunch and dinner. Breakfast costs for 2 people most days were between $20-$25. Dinner costs $30-$40. So it’s a little pricey but portions are good. Kids meals come with a free small drink, apple slices, and carrot sticks. There are vegan options, salads, and fresh fruit available. We did Uber eats one night, and ate at City Walk other days. Having a Starbucks on site was great! I never encountered a major line. I was in and out in 5-6 minutes. The pools were the best! I paid $14 for a tube for the lazy river. They inflate it and store it for you, or you can keep it in your room. Either way it’s yours to keep. Pools were clean and open late. The occasional duck or two would be seen swimming from time to time. Towels were plentiful and lots of lifeguards. Any trash poolside was because of sloppy guests not using the many garbage cans in plain site to clean up after themselves. The bowling alley and the arcade are great fun especially if it’s raining or too hot out. I’d love to say more but I’ll end with Cabana Bay is now my forever place to stay!…
