We stayed 5 nights in a pool view room on the 12th floor. Other reviews mention the noise. We experienced noise from above and below us. There were people in the room next to us and we didn’t hear them. We texted the front desk at midnight and they sent someone up. The noise stopped for the night and returned bright and early at 6 AM, but we still got a little sleep. The hotel is clean. Every morning there is a crew in several areas of the hotel. We didn’t eat at the Pier 8 market until close to the end, but wish we had gone there sooner for breakfast. The game room is small and tightly packed. The pool was nice, though it was too cold for us to swim. The lifeguards were out there in all weather watching the pool regardless of whether anyone was in it. We were very uncomfortable with the number of people that the shuttle bus loaded on to the bus that transports guests between the parks and the resorts. We didn’t use it after our first day. There was no line and 4 empty buses, but they had the bus at capacity on our trip back to the resort. Every seat was full and standing handles were all in use. If you are staying for the shuttle, this may not be the best place.

I booked the two room suite at Dockside. Got to the front desk where they told us they downgraded us to one room with two beds. It was my husband, my son and two of his friends celebrating his 16th birthday. We had pre-paid for the two room suite on Priceline. They didn’t even contact us to tell us we were downgraded. We would’ve gone to a different hotel. The front desk manager was firm and unapologetic. They had overbooked…gave our room to someone else. The rooms don’t even have carpeted floors. No one could sleep on the floor. And they don’t allow rollaway beds. The front office manager said we would receive 50% off our bill through priceline. We have seen nothing. Needless to say, we won’t book there again. This stay was in December.

First time at universal with my hubby and our teenagers. (M17/F17) The 2 bedroom suite was great. It fit us 4 comfortably. A little more closet space for kids area would have been great, but it was fine. The location of hotel was good and access to the parks via the universal buses was so easy and stress free. My only down was the Starbucks on premises closing so early BUT hey, there was a Starbucks IN THE LOBBY!!! Overall a great stay and we are already planning on coming back this year. We will be staying at Dockside for sure!

We had a 2 bedroom suite which was perfect for our long weekend visit. The room sleeps 6, but we only had a travel party of 4. The room was clean, spacious, and we especially liked the picnic table in the room to gather around, throw our park bag on, and eat at. I never heard my hotel room neighbors (and we visited during a busy holiday weekend). Room service was wonderful and we love the service where you can text the front desk with any questions or requests. Buses to the parks ran frequently and we never waited more than 5 minutes for a ride to/from the parks. We were within walking distance to a Walgreens and some restaurants so while we never left the hotel or parks, it felt nice to be in a location near places that sold especial items. The gift shop was really nice in the hotel. Staff there were amazing. The restaurant in the hotel is cafeteria style and had a large selection of your basic salads, sandwiches, burgers, chicken, and pizza. We noticed some vegan/vegetarian offerings and lots of healthy options like yogurts, plant based items, and salads. It was good. The basic cheese pizza was AMAZING. The hotel has nice amenities. Great pool and kids game arcade. Whenever our kids got tired in the park, we just took a quick bus ride back to the hotel (less than 5 minutes from the parks to the hotel!) and would nap, go to the pool, grab sodas from the cafeteria, and lounge. On our second night at 2am an alarm over an intercom system went off instructing us essentially that an alarm has been triggered and we were to await further instructions. It was loud and kept going for 5 minutes. I honestly had never had heard this kind of alarm before so we quickly got our kids up, had them go to the bathroom and get dressed as we waited for more instructions. Guys…This alarm was amazing. In this day and age my mind went to “Is this a fire? An attack? I need to be alert and listen for instructors for if we need to stay in place and barricade or evacuate to the fire exits.” After 5 minutes the alarm went off and we received the all clear to go back to bed. I used the texting service to double check that we were ok to go back to bed and we were informed that a fire alarm had been triggered and maintenance and security confirmed that there was no Fire. I LOVE this feature. Clear communication from staff in the alarm and in the texting service afterwards. I truly feel safer taking my family back to Universal hotels after this experience. Every staff member we ran into was amazing, kind, gracious, and professional. The staff are clearly well trained and managed. They all genuinely wanted to make us feel comfortable. The public bathrooms and common areas were CONSTANTLY being cleaned which is nice. We’re 2 years into COVID and I’ve recently stayed at hotels where the cleaning and sanitation has slacked. Dockside still is regularly sanitizing everywhere. This is our first Universal hotel stay and it certainly won’t be our last. A solid 10/10 for a clean, safe, comfortable, and relaxing Value hotel.

We stayed here in January 2022 for a week-long central Florida vacation. While this wasn't the nicest of the Universal resorts, it was the cheapest compared to even off-site properties. When we checked in they were supposed to text us when our room was ready, well after 3 we finally visited the front desk and it sounded like their texting system was having issues. Our room was super cute, we did request extra housekeeping after realizing the floor was covered in sand from the beach area near the pool. They handled it quickly. If you don't like to walk, I would not recommend this property. It took about 10 minutes to get from our room to the central lobby area where they have food, drinks, etc.
