On the whole this was a great Disney base. Rooms were a good size, staff were helpful, pool area was nice etc. Transport was very good - easy access to all the parks and the boat to Disney Springs is a lovely touch. My one main criticism is that Disney are still using COVID as an excuse for the lack of house keeping. The parks are packed, the restaurants are packed, the shows are packed, there is absolutely no reason why they can't offer a good level of house keeping.
We loved how quiet and peaceful the resort was but extremely disappointed in the dirty room and when I called about housekeeping they said they only pick up garbage, wipe hard surfaces and replace towels every other day. I took out my own garbage and the hard surfaces were not wiped down. We were walking around on dirty floors that had toe nail clippings that I had to clean up. Was surprised that they did not change bedding for a 7 night stay. The buses to certain locations could take up to 45 minutes. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and we were allowed an early arrival and a late check out.
Just got back from French Quarter and it couldn't be better! No problem with transportation to and from parks, a bit smaller and quieter than other Disney resorts. Service was great and because Nana (me!) could not easily make the walks from the farther buildings, Ellen at the desk made a quick change to Building 3 that saved me! She was wonderful and thank you again, and all the cast members were so nice, really, really, really. They also offered us an itemized bill that lists all food and merchandise you charge to room on Magic bands, which one and who made it!! Wonderful experience, thank you so much.
We hesitated over which Disney hotel to pick….. but felt we had made a good choice with French Quarter. The resort is reasonably compact, so walking from the reception area to our rooms didn’t take too long. Transportation was good - just one bus stop and 90% of the time the bus went direct to the park, sometimes though we were taken to the Riverside resort bus stops en route which was a little frustrating when you just want to get to the park. The boat to Disney springs is excellent. There is no table service restaurant, but that didn’t bother us at all. The rooms were nice - 2 big double beds, clean and maintained to a good standard. We were offered the choice of mouse keeping every other day or ‘nothing’ - so we opted for mouse keeping. I suppose you would only decline if you were concerned about covid as there is no compensation offered as an alternative. We’d never had Beignets before but they are a speciality here - and they got 10/10 from us!…
I spent a couple of hours visiting this resort on a Sunday morning. I rode a scooter over from the Riverside Resort, a beautiful ride it is along the river. The resort has lovely grounds with its trees, shrubs, flowers, landscaping, sidewalks, fun statuary, lampposts, fencing, and river views. The lobby is bright with huge windows. The seating is very limited, however. That was a disappointment. Bathrooms clean. The main pool area is a delight for kids! Very colorful, cool slides, games and music. A nice visit is recommended.
